The whole point of the popular website Angies List is that it is supposed to provide ratings and reviews of contractors, mechanics, dentists and the like based purely on customer experience, referring to itself in the company membership agreement as a passive conduit. But according to one Philadelphia woman, Angies List is anything but.

I would NEVER use that site now.
I suspect that many of the ratings are not written by the customers since I received a call from AL after using one of their providers. He asked me a series of questions about the service I received and I later found out he wrote a review for me and posted it on the site. They also auto-renew membership for you and charge the card on file.
She needs her top lip botoxed. Gummy gal.
A while back I got a cold call from a contractor who said he was highly rated by Angie’s List and that he was doing “free” home inspections.
I told him that I didn’t need any work at the moment, but asked him for his website address to see what kind of services he offered.
He immediately hung up on me.
Now I wonder if he was a criminal who just wanted to look inside my house.
Their are so many scams going going on right now.
Nail meet hammer, ding ding ding...
Paid a local painter for some ceilings and we got to talking AL wanted the ind contractor to pay $2,000/yr to be on the list. Fems have learned well from the mafia, eh?
The only list I have found to be of any use is Craig’s. I have bought and sold on Craigslist and unlike eBay that confiscates a percentage of your sale, it didn’t cost me a dime.
As for Angie’s I think this was a marketing move to draw attention to her site and help its flagging sales. Were they even committed to building something in Indiana or did they just make that up ? I mean it’s easy to say you are not going to do something because of X when you hadn’t planned on doing it anyway.
That's surprising. If she were a committed leftist ideologue, why would she advertise on Rush's show. Which takes me back to my earlier post that this could be a marketing move to draw attention to her business.

Do they advertise on his show or on selected stations? Is some PR agency doing the SF buys?
And if you pay “advertising fees”, you can get your business rated higher than what the consumers think you are worth.
I would bet they do
Really?
That sounds like a scam to me. Not nearly as advertised.
I got a call from a guy, late at night, woke me up, “Michael in technical department. He had a foreign accent and was asking me about my computer. I asked him if he was wearing khakis. Messed up the rest of his lines.
A service provider can supply Angie’s with a list of clients they’ve taken care of. If they are or have been members of Angie’s list, they will call and take the review over the phone.
