WHY is it that usually and immediately one of the very first statements in nearly all of these types of stories is:

A senior U.S. official told NBC News that the incident appears to be a "local criminal matter"; so far, no federal agencies, including the FBI, are involved in the investigation.News video played on CNN clearly shows at least one person walking around near the scene, wearing a jacket with large "FBI" letters on the back, and apparently "involved in the investigation?.
So much for the veracity of NBC News (not that anyone expected truth from NBC News).
