Typical gay rights/marriage related rout.

I saw Pence on the Sunday ABC show and he was saying everything he could to convince the audience that this bill does NOTHING.

Asked specifically if this protects a flowerist who refuses to sell flowers for a gay wedding, Pence refused to answer and instead he kept saying that it doesn’t allow discrimination against gays, and he wouldn’t give a single example of what this bill is for.

So Dems are given easy targets in this fight: Jim Crowe, Selma, water fountains, back of bus, because no one is explaining the difference between those situations and this.

All the posts here at FR about bakers and photographers being persecuted and none of them, not Pence , has got the guts and ability to make a convincing case for them.

These battles are won long term by changing minds, thats what progressives do, that requires arguments and examples.

And where is the backlash against those anti-Christian businesses?

No, I concluded otherwise. I still doubt that most Americans seriously equate gay marriage and straight marriage. Americans now support gay marriage because they simply WANT IT TO GO AWAY. They are tired of thinking about it and figure if they give them what they want, they’ll be happy and that’s the end of it.

Same thing happened during the Cold War - the Soviets kept wearing us down and people were simply getting tired of fighting them, and they nearly won except for Reagan pulling the rug out of their economy.

It was a lot easier to fight in the past, when the media was at least neutral, possibly on our side in many cases, now it is very tiring and the other side knows it.

You could very easily be right about that.
But 10 years after same sex marriage is legal in all 50 states it will be equated with traditional marriage.

So tell me this, who in your view is more extreme, Barack Obama or Ted Cruz? In reality, I’d argue that Ted Cruz is in fact no extremist at all. Ted Cruz’s views on repealing Obamacare, gay marriage, global warming, Israel, Iran, Obama’s unlawful executive amnesty, abiding by the constitution, separation of powers etc are backed by far more Americans than Obama’s far left, lawless dictatorial posture. Nevertheless , Obama’s far left, off the charts extremism didn’t stop him from winning twice, so even if Ted Cruz were “far right” as you put it, why should that stop him from winning, given that the far left Obama won twice?

I hate how this bill was cast in the framework of “religious freedom.” What does that make everyone else? Chopped liver?

This freedom should exist for EVERYONE, and purely religious objection shouldn’t be needed. A business owner is the OWNER, not the slave of any government.

This bill passed with a large majority of both houses of the Indiana legislature. Now it’s as if Mike Pence issued an edict, if one listens to the media.

We need a someone who can win! Cruz is saying exactly what we want to hear but in the long run he can only win the center right to far right which is a category I proudly fit in.

You are exactly right. Reagan sounds great, but he can never win over independent voters, who will only respond to someone like Ford. Tack on the Ford Democrats, and Ford has a chance to win the presidency, while Reagan will only be a feel-good vote, since he could never be competitive in a general election. Experts like Rove, and the rest of the media punditry, have convincingly laid out the case that Republicans must resist the temptation to vote for the stronger candidate, and instead look to the middle.

If Reagan were to be the Republican nominee, it would result in a defeat so great that it would destroy the Republican party, and ensure left-wing domination as far as the eye can see. Sometimes, you have to be smart about these things. Reagan is just too extreme. GO FORD!!!

Good for Cruz! With mass MSM blasting Pence, Cruz has the cajones to back him and the Constitution. Cruz shows leadership that we haven’t seen since Reagan.

Equated is a strong word...more like people will stop caring. Kind of like the shock with Clinton/Monica...by the end, the county simply wanted it to stop and if it took a finding a way to ignore an Oval Office BJ, so be it.

That right wing nut doesn’t have his finger on the pulse of the American people like the media does. He’ll never win!

In my opinion he is waffling on important issues. He is not taking a stand on the religious freedom issue as Indiana is under assault and he is parsing words on immigration. He has done good things with unions in his state but I don’t see him having fire in the belly on deeply held values but being under the direction of the Chamber of Commerce.

Instead “our” side looks for BOGO free coupons at Old Country Buffet, followed up by a “Lawrence Welk Show” marathon.
