I don't drink, so the loss of wine is, for me, non-consequential, but I LOVE almonds, and I especially love(d) California almonds ... but it seems the water situation has eliminated California almonds from our menu.

So too, California wine may also be eliminated form our menu

We talk of nuking Iran, but here in our own nation we have a a large number of people equally as evil, with more patience

California lawmakers and politicians seem to have a way of making law, rule and regulation so severe, no one can earn a decent living without the gummint intervention and those that can are regulated out of their ability.

Regulated out of my ability ... hmmmm ... I LIKE that ... I'll meditate on it a bit.

A well written article.

Enviro whackos have ruined that state.

I posted this three years ago: The awesome stench of the greatest future real estate racket in history continues to develop. My dad used to finance such flood control projects in the "Inland Empire" where the current real estate crash shows us the future of the one they have in store, only it will be bigger. Such infrastructure projects are ALWAYS for the purpose of making otherwise dodgy future investments profitable; they are NEVER about protecting current infrastructure.

Now that the big real estate crooks in the RINO-CRAT Party (Times Mirror and Southern Pacific in particular (now Catellus)) have used the Delta Smelt to take farmland at pennies on the dollar from those who've held it for forty years hoping to do the same thing, now that they've assured a massive profit on "insta-cities," adjacent to the stops along their massive and publicly-subsidized "high-speed-rail" project, now they want existing taxpayers to pony up for the cost of flood control so that they can build houses on otherwise economically undevelopable land and cash in.

It's flat. It's cheap. Let's build. Here comes another 20 million people.

It's the same game as the "Inland Empire" of the 1990s in LA, heart of the real estate bubble that broke in 2007, only bigger.

Startling experience at Cal restaurant recently. Used to be the wait person asked if you wanted water. That evolved to the customer having to ask for water. This time when I asked about water the waiter said I could drink any I had brought into the restaurant with me but that the management requested that we keep the bottle out of sight “to avoid a riot” ... :)

1 acre foot per year = 325,851 gallons x 800,000 acre-feet of water = 260,680,800,000 gallons flushed out to the ocean for a few buckets of minnows. Minnows that cost less then $100 dollars at a bait store that cost California billions.
