A D.C. dog owner did what anyone with a missing pet would do. He posted fliers but then, he says, police threatened him with a $750,000 fine.

The fine seems excessive and strangely punitive, but anything can be overdone, even the compassionate act of posting a lost dog notice, or helping someone post it.
Sounds like this nice young childless couple just overdid it, enlisting 100’s if not over a 1000 volunteers. Then they followed up with additional postings of possible sightings. Someone complained.
