Scott Walker enters the Republican presidential race with far stronger ties to the partys biggest fund-raisers than any other candidate besides Jeb Bush.
Roughly half of the nations top 250 Republican donors have given money to Mr. Walker in his campaigns for Wisconsin governor, according to an Upshot analysis of Federal Election Commission records and state records. By comparison, 30 percent have given to Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, 20 percent to Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and 10 percent to Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey.
A presidential campaign is a chance for candidates to introduce themselves to top fund-raisers, and its possible that another candidate will become the favorite of donors. But the data underscores the reason that Mr. Walker appears at this early stage to be in the strongest position of any candidate other than Mr. Bush.
As an evangelical Christian with a record of taking on labor unions and winning elections as governor of a Democratic-leaning state, Mr. Walker has the potential to appeal to many Republican constituencies.
The Upshots analysis defined the top 250 donors as those who have given the most money to Republican candidates and causes at the federal level over the last 12 years. The data does not say very much about Mr. Bush, the former Florida governor, because his last campaign was in 2002, when the network of top conservative fund-raisers was quite different. But his familys deep ties in the party suggest he will most likely raise more than any other candidate, including Mr. Walker, at least in the campaigns early stages.
Mr. Walkers previous support from Republican donors helps him in several ways. It can ease his path to raising money, especially in the age of super PACs,...

They leave out all the rest of the donors.
Let's see 'em do the same article with ALL the donors.

If you mean individual donors giving small amounts, they do touch on that.
Doesn't matter. It just means that Cruz will get an extra donation from me.
The others will get nothing.

I have to excerpt it.
It’s a very long article.
Already, Cruz has scored a few banner poaches, such as when he earned support from Stan Herzog, the Missouri CEO of Herzog Contracting, who contributed substantially to Walker's gubernatorial bids.Herzog, who shares Show Me State ties with Cruz's campaign manager Jeff Roe, rang up Cruz's camp after some of Walker's remarks left him unsettled. Cruz ultimately won Herzog over a significant enough boon that Kate Doner, Walker's fundraiser, called Roe to discuss it.
"I just heard about Stan," Doner said, according to Lofstrom. "I'm really disappointed. Congratulations to you." A spokeswoman for Walker declined to comment.
Doesn't stop me from commenting. ;)

Beyond cash donors, how they assemble their campaigns will play a big roll in the outcome.
“.....Finally, Walker made an under-the-radar move that is worthy of notice. His presidential SuperPAC hired Shirley & Banister, one of the most respected P.R. firms in the conservative movement, to handle its messaging and strategy. The P.R. firm was founded by Craig Shirley, the best-selling biographer of Ronald Reagan. I know this firm well, because I retained their services myself the past few months. Their main interest is promoting causes/people that are advancing movement conservatism. So theyre not going to sign on with Walker in order to promote milquetoast (Commandment #9)....”

That’s what I hear.
Not too sure how that works.
I thrive on information.
: )
From the article:
As an evangelical Christian with a record of taking on labor unions and winning elections as governor...
How about this take instead:
As an evangelical Christian who celebrates immorality by attending celebrations for homosexual ‘marriage’, Walker seems to be pronouncing himself not only ready to be President, but even ready to be God.
I’d like to see an equally snarky piece about the crooks in Baltimore and their ‘democrat funders’’...
I’m not surprised... he has a record of winning fights directly with the organized left. Not many can say that.
I like Walker a great deal and will wholeheartedly support him should he be the nominee.
However, there are some very hard decisions that need to be made and it will take a leader willing to defy Boehnor, McConnell and the Chamber of Commerce Cheap Labor pimps in taking this necessary and hard decisions. For that purpose, my personal preference is Cruz. He has demonstrated the fortitude, desire and intellect required.
Scott Walker’s strength is in donors (title says it all.)
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
