US. Ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro phoned Prime Minister Netanyahu and asked him to issue a statement disavowing former Israeli Ambassador to Israel Michael Orens statements about President Obama.
In MK Michael Orens new book, he accuses Obama of abandoning the two main principle of US-Israel relations: no public disagreements (no daylight) and no suprises in major policy changes. He also primarily lays the blame on Obama for the bad relationship with Israel.
He says that while Netanyahu made mistakes, Obama purposely damaged US-Israel relations.
The US State Department says Orens statements are, absolutely inaccurate and false.
According to reports, Netanyahu said he would not publicly comment on anything Oren wrote.
Shapiro made a similar request from Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, who heads the Kulanu party of which MK Michael Oren is a member.
Kahlon said that Orens remarks were his personal memoirs and the book was not written while he was a member of Kulanu.
Now why would Bibi do that?

The Obama administration as literary critic.
I suspect that there is NOTHING Bibi will do in response to “US Demands”.
Why wouldn’t Bibi reply that Israel has free speech, like the US purports to have, and he won’t comment publicly on the political memoirs of public servants?
US Ambassador Shapiro knew the answer to his question before he asked it.
This is but one more example of the administration trying to keep Israel in a box. Keeping Bibi embroiled in controversy, of all sizes and shapes, is this ambassador’s full time job after all.
it is the height of arrogance for O to even request, more or less demand, Netayahu to denounce or renounce a book written by somebody else in Jerusalem
especially since what we’ve heard about the book is that it has accurate info in it
if O doesn’t like the book, he can easily issue his own press release disputing any incorrect facts it may contain. IF it contains anything incorrect ...that is.
probably O couldn’t find any errors in the book to dispute or rebut, and so THIS “I demand someone else denounce the book entoto” arrogant demand.... is all he could come up with
embarrasing as Hell for America
So the most transparent one sends out a groveling bootlicker to demand that a leader of an foreign nation chastise one of its citizens, not even King George III tried that.
“US Ambassador Shapiro”
Another CAPO selling out his fellow Jews!
Why would there be an Israeli ambassador to Israel?
Ala Madame Madeline Albright and many, many others on the east coast.
The State Department has no business criticizing authors let alone asking others to do so.
Obama really does think he can order everyone around like a Third World dictator. After all, it’s Third World level that he is imposing on the U.S. - fundamentally changing it.
Policy to get Jews (especially prominent ones) to criticize other Jews. Obama will just have to fall back on J Street to criticize Oren’s book.
Maybe he will threaten Netanyahu over US support for resolution on Palestinian state at the Security Council, if Netanyahu doesn’t fall in line.
