HAVANA/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States and Cuba are set to announce the restoration of diplomatic relations on Wednesday, the result of a two-year courtship between former Cold War rivals who severed ties in 1961.

The chief of the U.S. interests section in Havana will report to Cuban foreign ministry around 9 a.m. (0900 ET) to deliver a letter from U.S. President Barack Obama to Cuban President Raul Castro.

Obama will then speak at 11 a.m. (1100 ET) from the White House's ceremonial Rose Garden. It was unknown whether Castro would reciprocate with comments of his own.

Following 18 months of secret negotiations brokered by Pope Francis and Canada, the two leaders announced separately but simultaneously last December that they planned to reopen embassies in each other's capitals and normalize relations.

Great .... Now we’re on the hook for these still-communist losers.

Aid to communism ... All the while trying to change our society to be just like them!

I thought this socialist utopia didn’t need no stinkin capitalist friends? Oh, that’s right, we needed to wait for Obama to destroy our economy with socialist programs to convince Cuba we are on their side.

Cuba is just one tree.

Looking at the forest - move closer to and become more friendly with the Cuba and Iran trees. Move away from and distance the country from the Israel and Taiwan trees.

Just watch, Barry is going to try to return Guantanamo to Cuba. Look for the offer to come in about 6-9 months.

The Left finally gets something from Obama instead of the shaft he’s given them by helping the Crony Capitalists on Obamacare and Trade Deals and Amnesty.

But even the capitalists want to cash in like they did with big old Communist China and are already savoring business opportunities.

The only big Progressive Agenda items Obama and other politicians can give Leftists are ones related to sex.

Economic Leftism must defer to the Crony Capitalists that finance both Uniparties including Obama’s.

Yes and no. Seems there’s been a waiting list for years for distributors who pay plenty to be on it for when these stogies hit the free markets. Meaning they’re not going to be as available and as cheap as they should be.

I was in Germany in 2000 and 2001 and went to a tobacco shop that sold Cuban cigars, expecting them to be cheap. They were going for about $25 US at the time..............

When I was deployed in 2003, Armed Forces TV warned GIs in Germany that Cuban cigars were considered contraband. “Smoke ‘em, but don’t bring ‘em”.

Anyway, yet another travesty from this odious regime. And yes, our Guantanamo base will soon be on the chopping block.

Disgusting.......
