US says Iran interim deal extended to Friday (another extension of sanction relief)

VIENNA - The terms of the 2013 interim nuclear deal between Iran and major powers have been extended until Friday, the US said Tuesday, meaning this is the new effective deadline for talks on a final deal.

"To allow for the additional time to negotiate, we are taking the necessary technical steps for the measures of the Joint Point of Action (the 2013 agreement) to remain in place through July 10," State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said.

More time, more demands, more concessions.

What's the point of this treaty? The only benefit is to Iran.

We have spies. We don't need inspections.

We also have "glass makers".

In part designed to keep Israel at bay. Israel knows the condemnation they’d receive if they were to begin a campaign of deconstructing Iran’s facilities while negotiations are in progress.

Delay, stall, capitulate and delay again.

The Persians are playing our negotiators like a cheap fiddle.

LOL, Iran is playing the same game they’ve always played, straight out of the North Korea playbook.

They will continue stalling for time as long as possible.

I truly believe we are quickly approaching the end of the road now. Israel can move at any time - even if Kerry and Zarif refuse to leave Vienna.

This might be a good thing.

I thought I read yesterday that if it got extended again, the Congress had 60 days instead of 30 to review any agreement.

This is a great example of what Trump is talking about: having the right people in place to negotiate an agreement favorable to us, as opposed to giving away everything and looking like a fool.

Our current crop of pantywaist ‘deal makers’ are only going to make the world more dangerous. It’s fitting I suppose that Marie Harf is the spokeswoman.

If there is no deal by the 9th, Congress has 60 days for their review instead of 30. Looks like this is planned but who the hell knows.

I don’t doubt your stated motive for the delay tactic (stalling Israel), but the tragedy is that US is still determined to sign whatever pathetic agreement oozes out at the end of the process. I suppose that’s what they want.

What the Obozo admin wants is to protect Iran from Israel. Not much of a legacy in a deal that reeks of capitulation and ultimately Iran announcing they've entered the newkler club.

Remember, Valarie Jarrett is of Iranian decent. Her daddy, granddad and uncle all have communist/radical muzzie ties.

How this woman ever obtained a security clearance is beyond me.

I have not seen such weak diplomatic negotiations since Madeline Not-so-bright toasted Kim Jung Il on her "successful" negotiations. Oh wait, North Korea now has nuclear weapons.

As a geopolitical observer for decades, I'm still trying to figure out why liberals are so willing to appease the bad actors of the World. Naive? Misplaced compassion? Money? Legacy? Some hippie-dippy need for all to be equal? Foolish attempts to bring them into Western world values? Trade? Stupidity? What? Someone please explain it to me.

"The Persians are playing our negotiators like a cheap fiddle."

I think our "negotiators" are really working with the Iranians to assure that Iran has the time and resources to attack Israel and then the rest of the West. There was even a report posted some time ago on FR that the French said the US representatives were acting more like Iranian representatives trying to convince the rest of the Western negotiators of the Irnian position.

I have several liberal relatives myself. The simple truth is that most libs think the US and the West are the bad guys in the world. They think whites, Jews, Christians, heterosexuals, etc are all the big bad wolf. While the Muzzies and the radical regimes and anyone who declares war against the West need to be constantly defended. It’s tough to make sense of their moral inversions but they can’t possibly be merely “naive” as they act.
