Every once in a while, common sense finds its way onto the pages of The New York Times. That was the case on Monday, when it published a piece on Cecil the lion and trophy hunting of large animals.

Everyone loves lions until they are in the same room with one.
Very simple. If western hunters can hunt lions and pay hard cash to go into dictators pocket then there will be lions for westerners to hunt.
Money also goes to people who live in the areas where these animals roam...they become game wardens and report poachers because it’s in their financial interests to do so.
I love NY times editorial writers, can I hunt THEM? ;)
If you want to save any animal from extinction, put it on the menu.
Start serving Lion Burgers, and some enterprising fellow will get them to breed like rabbits.
