Glenn Beck absolutely befuddled by pro-Trump Republican entertainers (Coulter and Co.)
Washington Examiner ^ | 8/14/2015 | T. Becket Adams

Posted on 08/15/2015 1:59:14 PM PDT by Laissez-faire capitalist

Many Republican entertainers are clearly smitten with former reality TV star Donald Trump, but for conservative commentator Glenn beck, this makes no sense.

Trump, a longtime crony capitalist, supports many liberal positions, including increased gun control and single-payer healthcare. ...

"I get it if you are tired of politicians, A Republican progressive, or you are only about winning," Beck wrote in a message posted at Facebook [link at URL]. "Perhaps you are angry and you just want to make someone pay or just want something done and you don't carte how it gets done, but what PRINCIPLES does he have that they are attracted to?"

"I really want to understand," he added.

Beck listed off a handful of reasons why conservatives should cringe at the thought of Trump's candidacy.

"[Trump] said he identifies his 'policies more as a Democrat'; he makes Obama look truly humble' he was very pro abortion until very recently;; he still says 'don't defund Planned Parenthood'; he is pro 'assault weapons ban'; he is in favor of a wealth tax that would just 'take money out of people's bank accounts'; he is for boots on the ground in Iraq and 'taking the oil' from the Iraqi people; he is a progressive 'Republican'; he says single payer health care works; he said he would give people more than just Obama care," Beck wrote.

"[T]he first Lady would be the first to have posed nude in lesbian porno shots; he said that he keeps all the bibles he is given in a 'special place' outside the city - and he only goes to church on Christmas and Easter; he is generally not a likable guy; he has around 16% favorability with Hispanics and he has gone bankrupt 4 times," he added. ...

Please, after Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43 and Obama, tell me how it could get worse than Trump.

I liked Bush (43).

It is because some are so angry at Washington that they’re willing to toss conservative values to the wind and believe his lies. And nothing will dissuade them.

Trump could come out tomorrow, abort a baby live on TV in the home of an illegal immigrant while demanding the government increase its control over all aspects of life and his supporters would marvel at how conservative he is.

Beck needs to step back, take a deep breath, and a time-out, so he can think through what he is saying.

Beck has no basis in fact for his claims. He is merely joining the other Republicans (GOPe) and Democrats who are afraid of Trump.

Getting on the wrong bandwagon will surely backfire big time for Beck, IMO.

In the words of Robert Anton Wilson of “Illuminati” fame, a vote for Trump is a vote to “imminentize the eschaton.”

For those of us who thought President Obeyme was the worst president ever and no one could possibly do a worse job? There’s Trump.

F*** it. Bring on the downfall of the empire.

Trump’s got MY vote.

Every person, including re tellers and managers, all the toddlers, everyone but me-a combat vet-who btw, was fired this week for not being a Spanish speaking Mexican, and my kid today at the Wells Fargo this morning, was a Spanish speaking Mexican. They don’t converse with, acknowledge, treat with respect nor appreciate this Blanca nor the country I came from. Oh I mean my country they’ve invaded

In a major Texas city and not El Paso. That would be too easy

Ih yeah bring in Yeb or Rubio

Yes, I agree.

I am so sick of republicans who apologize for their own existences and throw anyone who says anything that might offend anyone else overboard.

I absolutely sick to death of the GOP.

Even though I am a Cruz supporter, I appreciate what Trump has brought to this primary season, and I love that the GOP hates him, and I can understand why people support him.

If the GOP nominates some shlub like Bush or Rubio or Kasich, and Trump goes third party, I might well vote for him.

If Trump wins the GOP nomination straight out, I will also consider voting for him at that time.

No, I really don’t have an opinion. I merely posted on this thread because it is anti-Beck. I was trying to point out that this isn’t a reason to disqualify from someone as president. Pam Geller did what she did - and I have no opinion of it one way or the other,

Well that is what makes America great, you can base you vote on a comment Trump made about Pam Geller that you thought was inappropriate.. Others may want to look at bigger issues..

Trump could do all you say there and still be better than everyone else running, except Cruz, that’s why he’s still get the support

So 100% of what Beck said is a lie? That is a question, and what is your response?

If not a lie, what then did Beck say that you actually liked despite that?

BTW, you are equivocating: Beck doesn’t have to like stuff about Trump to truly understand the way you want him to.

BUT, Beck can list what he says he really doesn’t like and then say he wants to understand why certain talk radio slicksters seem to be gaga over Trump despite what Beck lists about Trump.

The talk radio crowd is probably just in it for the ratings, and may not care who gets the GOP nomination.

Yes, the border needs to be secured, but you appear to be a single issue voter.

Immigration is not a single issue, it is the key Issue that frames the debate on many of the other issues. Voting rights, Medicare, school curriculum, welfare, prison population, homeland security.........

I don’t know?? IMO, they don’t take him serious, but, I don’t know? Whoever gave him the money, they want something in return. His whole personality has changed since he was on FNC. To me, he looks like a paid puppet.

I used to watch Beck, now, he rambles on like an immature lunatic.

I think you are conflating being sick of immigration with being sick of illegal immigration.

So, no matter if Trump seems to look like Romney 2.0 that doesn’t matter to you?

I like what Rush said - he isn’t going to trash any of the candidates, because any one of them is still better than obama, and he wants to defeat the Democrats!

Would you rather that he call people stupid?

What does that solve or accomplish or than to give certain boneheads in the ranks of the GOP a cathartic experience?
