EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy's history of managerial neglect, malfeasance and outright incompetence has been capped by her agency unleashing one of the worst environmental disasters of the 21st century.

EPA clean-up crews breached a waste storage dam that produced a torrent of heavy metal-laden toxic waste, potentially fouling an entire western river system and impacting the drinking water of tens of millions of people.

While McCarthy didn't personally bulldoze the dam, it's no surprise to those who have followed her Peter Principle-driven career that this would occur on her watch.

If this happened under a republican president, calls for the resignation of the EPA head would never die down. Instead no one has said anything, especially the feckless fool on the hill. Unfortunately, this is more the norm in govt than the exception. The first call on any agency’s funding is the salary and especially the yearly bonus amounts for executives, then middle management. Actually hiring people to do things is a very very tertiary consideration. The EPA is no worse than any other agency in this regard.
