Trump is more of a conservative than most of the Republicans. A favorite tactic of the liberal media is to drive a wedge in between the candidate and the conservative base. Why would they care if he wasn’t conservative enough on any particular issue? Only to hurt him. A lot of the RINO candidates do the same thing and then try to say they are the conservative standard bearer.

Doesn't matter to those who don't support any candidate (or FR for that matter) because they just think he's "yuckie" so they make up crap to be afraid of - they are the "principled conservatives" who will try to hand a third election to the hard Left.
That said - GO CRUZ!!! Keep it up Trump!
