These two conflict with each other:

The "assault weapon ban" is a complete joke. Those weapons were banned because "they look mean" (direct quote from Barbara Feinswine.)
You cannot be against gun control while being for banning weapons that "look mean."

Trump is more of a conservative than most of the Republicans. A favorite tactic of the liberal media is to drive a wedge in between the candidate and the conservative base. Why would they care if he wasn’t conservative enough on any particular issue? Only to hurt him. A lot of the RINO candidates do the same thing and then try to say they are the conservative standard bearer.
