Even if the “coach” didn’t order the “hit”, he obviously has no control over his players and ought to be fired.

No. The coach is not involved. We used to “gang” up on players across the line if the were dirty or if they were “beating” us. I was a center and I would just tell the guard next to me that the opposing lineman was being a pain in the ass. We would put him on the ground pretty quickly, just to clean him up.

The coach never told us to do it. And it was part of the game. But doing it to a ref? That’s messed up.
