Drudge: “I had a Supreme Court Justice say to me it’s over for me."

Circulating on the web tonight:

During an appearance on the Alex Jones Show, Drudge asserted that copyright laws which prevent websites from even linking to news stories were being advanced.

“I had a Supreme Court Justice tell me it’s over for me,” said Drudge. “They’ve got the votes now to enforce copyright law, you’re out of there. They’re going to make it so you can’t even use headlines.”

“To have a Supreme Court Justice say to me it’s over, they’ve got the votes, which means time is limited,” he added, noting that a day was coming when simply operating an independent website could be outlawed.

“That will end (it) for me – fine – I’ve had a hell of a run,” said Drudge, adding that web users were being pushed into the cyber “ghettos” of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

“This is ghetto, this is corporate, they’re taking your energy and you’re getting nothing in return – nothing!”

Btw, thanks for posting this. I’m glad you were the one who got to it first so it’ll receive the attention it deserves. This is big.

Matt Drudge: Sick Old Hillary's Head on a Stick, Brain in Jar, Oval Office

Matt Drudge: Media propping up 'old and sick' Hillary

Matt Drudge on Tuesday railed against Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s health and her politics, saying he was worried the nation would end up “with Hillary’s brain in the Oval Office in a jar.”

“She’s old and she’s sick,” the Drudge Report founder said in an interview with Alex Jones.

Drudge slammed the media for propping up Clinton"s candidacy.

"She's not a contender. They"re making her a contender with these propped up Saturday Night Live things. It's like a head on a stick," he said, chiding NBC for "giving her endless hours of airtime."

The media mogul cited Clinton"s hypothyroidism as cause for concern.

"Anybody who is 70 years old who is hypothyroid, you do not elect president, ladies and gentlemen," he said.

I got off Facebook a year ago. I never liked it. it’s like they force you in a jail cell and spoon feed you everything. The people are so phoney and it’s all group think. Hopefully this can be the start of a movement against the corporate progressive control of media i.e. Barry Diller.

Drudge is right your not an individual on Facebook.

The goal is to stop the free disemination of information ...

hell ... stop it whatever ... free or not

An informed populace is a dangerous populous to the dictator

Doesn’t stop anyone from posting a vanity starting “My opinion about what I read”

Agree. Or a synopsis of an article in the poster's own words along with a footnote containing enough info to do a search for the article if desired. Then FR content becomes copywriteable.

Good for you, ground_fog. You left the “free speech” cul-de-sac. (never been on)

I think Justice Taney thought the same thing about his nefarious decision. Didn’t work out too well for him.

If Drudge brings a person to a on line newspaper and this person does some clicking on that site wouldn't that be good for the paper and also be free advertising for them?

Drudge asserted that copyright laws which prevent websites from even linking to news stories were being advanced.

FR's do-not-excerpt list includes sites like Wired that prohibit FR users linking to it.

I wonder if citizens have this same right to prohibit Google from having maps to peoples' homes or photos of their homes online. It's all a link, id'nt it?

Ironically, Facebook, Twitter, and other sites are being used by the media (and FB does not provide equal access, some posts are suppressed and only seen by a handful of all of your ‘friends’ because they aren’t ‘trending’ in the politically correct approved manner).

It’s like Corbis and Getty going after FR and ignoring all of the ‘copyright infractions’ all over the web (specifically that mocked up prank photo of Kerry and Fonda onstage together).

Either all infractions need to be pursued or it carries no weight. Selective enforcement against political opponents is not proper enforcement of copyright claim.

I use Facebook essentially for discussions about dogs and classical music. Keep politics there to a minimum.

You already see the MSM using footage taken by amateurs (ma and pa videos) and airing them. Nobody can copyright a plane crash, a war, politics, the weather and so on especially with so many cell phones with 1080p capability.

Actually that youtube footage of breaking news events DOES carry copyright. It is just that ABCDisney News, Corbis, and others CHOOSE to ignore the photographer's/videographer's RIGHTS and steal it claiming that it was on Twitter and therefore public domain. Billion dollar companies' legal staff know damn well that is theft but the courts are slow and the fines are only in the 6-7 figures YEARS after the fact. The fines need to be much more punitive to stop these civil infractions.

So host the website in some other country that does not recognize this interpretation of law.

Then the sites will have fewer hits and fewer hits means less revenue from advertisers.

Well, at least that much is absolutely true.
