EPA spends millions on military-style weapons, watchdog group reports
The Washington Times ^ | October 10, 2015 | Kellan Howell

The Environmental Protection Agency has spent millions of dollars over the last decade on military-style weapons to arm its 200 “special agents” to fight environmental crime.

Among the weapons purchased are guns, body armor, camouflage equipment, unmanned aircraft, amphibious assault ships, radar and night-vision gear and other military-style weaponry and surveillance activities, according to a new report by the watchdog group Open the Books.

“Protecting the environment just got real. With millions of dollars spent on military style weaponry, the EPA is now literally ensconced with all institutional force,” said Adam Andrzejewski, founder of Open the Books and the author of the report.

“Our report discovered that when the EPA comes knocking they are armed with a thousand lawyers, arrest/criminal data, credit, business and property histories, plus a ‘Special Agent’ with the latest in weaponry and technology,” Mr. Andrzejewski added.

The agency spends nearly $75 million each year for criminal enforcement, including money for a small militia of 200 “special agents” charged with fighting environmental crime.

The EPA is a money pit in itself not counting the phony regulations they make costing Americans hundreds of billions of dollars.

200 “special agents” charged with fighting environmental crime.

Arlo Guthrie never would've even made it to jail.

What? How many millions of dollars do you need to arm 200 people? What kinds of weapons are they getting? Powered armor suits with lasers and miniguns, maybe some guided missiles? Geez... Probably buy their stuff from Tony Stark.

They can stage live-fire war games against all the other federal agencies who've added armed goon squads to their ranks.

The EPA does not need military weapons, they only need a backhoe to do damage.

Once, all Federal officers wanted to be “Special Agents” because the FBI had them.

Then they wanted to look like the HRT because the FBI had one.

Trouble is, they got the title and the toys, but not the training.

At one time. Secret Service Special Agents actually did noble work, as in the case of SA Tim McCarthy vis a vis Reagan.

They they started drinking, buying foreign hookers and crashing into WH security barriers.

If firearm confiscation should start anywhere, it should be in the federal government.

Thank you for referencing that article jazusamo. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Patriots please bear in mind that the main problem with unconstitutionally big federal government is not the lawless president, activist justices, or unconstitutional federal agencies like the EPA.

The main problem with the feds is the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Senate imo. More specifically, the Senate is not doing its job to protect the states as the Founding States had intended for the Senate to do. Instead, the Senate works in cahoots with the corrupt House to pass bills that steal 10th Amendment-protected state powers, such bills also stealing state revenues uniquely associated with those powers.

As evidenced by the EPA’s military-style weapons, the Senate’s treasonous, Orwellian-shadowing mischief does not stop with helping to pass bills that steal state powers. Regardless that Founding States had made the first numbered clauses in the Constitution, Sections 1-3 of Article I, to clarify that all federal legislative powers are vested in the elected members of Congress, not in the executive or judicial branches, or in non-elected bureaucrats like those running the EPA, and regardless that Congress has the constitutional authority to impeach and remove from office executive and judicial branch officials who exercise legislative powers in blatant defiance of Sections 1-3, please consider this. The Senate essentially encourages the unconstitutional exercising of legislative branch powers by non-legislative branch government officials by simply letting such officials get away with doing such things.

As a side note to this rant, please consider the following. Given that a conservative is elected POTUS, if patriots can elect a non-RINO, 2/3 conservative supermajority to the Senate in the ’16 elections, then Congress can impeach and remove activist justices from the bench.

The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt senators who wrongly ignore when non-legislative branch officials exercise legislative powers along with it.

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

- Barack the First

He is right that he cannot rely on our military to destroy America. That is why he is arming EPA, BATFE, NOAA, personnel working for the Departments of Education and of Agriculture’s Inspector Generals, and even FDA.
