Washington (AFP) - The world would be a better place if dictators such as Saddam Hussein and Moamer Kadhafi were still in power, top Republican US presidential hopeful Donald Trump said in comments aired Sunday.

The billionaire real estate tycoon also told CNN's "State of the Union" talk show that the Middle East "blew up" around US President Barack Obama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, his biggest Democratic rival in the race for the White House.

“I wanted the US to go in and take the oil.”

I want to see that done in Saudi Arabia. Reparations for 911 - utter and immediate expropriation of their oil, to go into our own strategic reserves.

Sadam was offed because he tried to kill GHW Boosch. Kadaffy was offed because Hillary wanted to loot Libya.

The Iranians own 911: http://www.iran911case.com/

And Assad was the biggest helper of the Jihadists around when we were in Iraq in full. The Bush admin almost expanded the war to Syria.

Apart from oil, it was to our advantage that 400 million Muslims weren't unified under a single ruler.

This is a very flawed statement. Iraq, Kuwait, and possibly Saudi Arabia do not add up to 400 million. Another big flaw is thinking that one Muslim ruler (for which Saddaam was not as he was a Ba'athist) is going to make his followers coherent. Saddaam could not make the Shia and Sunni members of his army fight effectively. It is actually better that he waste his resources tying to make them work together. When Shia Iran was at its weakest, Saddaam could not make his Sunni-Shia military beat Iran.

We are the ones now wasting our resources.

Sadly another thing he says is that is true. I don't think it really had to be this way, but I believe electing Obama guaranteed it! Elections have consequences

“Should have got our own damn oil elsewhere.”

Not sure I’m following you. I’m told that we have taken none of Iraq’s oil.

Saddam had to go

That might be so. I don't know. But is the world a better place without him? I agree with Trump. It is not.

I have seen nothing that he was helping AQ

He wasn't. Bin Laden tried to take Khaddaffi out. Khadaffi (I don't know how to spell his name and don't care enough to look it up) gave us his intel files on AQ.

Damn skippy he’s right.

Yet, I don’t believe the hijackers on 9/11 weren’t mostly Saudi. So, why Iraq again?

Not saying he didn’t need to go; but you commit our boys/forces for some BS 2-bit tyrant w/out lifting a finger to the root...

Saddam needed to have his head served to his sons on a platter, and same with the Libyan tyrant.

Qaddafi made a deal with Bush and Blair and the rest of Europe - he disavowed WMD and compensated for the Lockerbie terrorism. It is clear he wanted to transition in his final years to rule of his son who was Oxford educated and westernized.

Trump is right. It takes murderous dictators to control these heathen Islamic savages. They murder enough of them to keep them under control. Sadly its true. Democracy will never work on these folks even 1000 years from now. Islam is the problem.

"What was so great about Kuwait?"

They sell their oil for US dollars and only US dollars?

Personally I was leaning towards not helping Kuwait since I recalled the US asking Kuwait for permission to place US Naval assets in Kuwait and Kuwait said not. That Forced the US Navy to bring in huge barges for said assets. Well if Kuwait would not help us (with Iran) then turn around is fair play.

OK, that clearly makes up for the deaths of 1.3 million innocents and mass murder with chemical weapons.

NOTE TO MURDEROUS DICTATORS: Have a high ranking Catholic by your side and you get to do anything you want.

Nothing against the Donald, I’d vote for him in the general but it looks like it is difficult to find proof of him really coming out against the war in 2003.
