Austria said Wednesday it would build a fence along its border with fellow EU state Slovenia to "control" the migrant influx, in what would be the first barrier between two members of the passport-free Schengen zone.

Both countries have become key transit points for tens of thousands of refugees and migrants seeking to reach northern Europe ahead of the winter, and before more potential EU border closures.

Vienna's announcement prompted sharp criticism from Berlin amid an escalating spat over Austria's handling of the humanitarian drama.

"We do not believe that the current migrant crisis that Europe is facing can be resolved with the building of fences or walls," said German government spokesman Steffen Seibert, adding that the problem could only be dealt with if countries stood united.

The small Alpine nation of Slovenia, which has been swamped by migrants recently, also reiterated its readiness to erect a fence along its Croatian frontier if new EU plans aimed at improving the situation failed to produce quick results

Good Fences make for Good Neighbors...

This could also be the end of the EU. I wonder how the Soros Open-Borders Minions will try to counter this?

“adding that the problem could only be dealt with if countries stood united.”

United as being under Merkel’s heel.

I would love to be in on crafting a rebuttal to Berlin.

You could still have an EU without Schengen. Or, at least, with more stringent external border control than they have now, Schengen could be suspended and reinstituted.

More like locking the door after the thief and his entire family have entered your home and moved into one of your bedrooms.

I wonder if Merkel plans another Anschluss of Austria? They did it once, they could do it again. You know, it's for the children. For Muzzie children that is.

You’ve got to plug the hole in the bottom of the boat/basement wall before you start bailing the water out, right?
And you shut off the water before replacing the corroded supply line?
At least that’s what anyone does who really wants to solve the problem.

And it’s the same as here, with the key to the presumed dilemma over our immigration (invasion) problem: You’ve got to want to fix the problem by some method other than just saying, “OK, you’re all amnestied. But just this once!” Turkey is their Mexico. The Austrians seem to be serious about plugging the leak.

The refugees/migrants/advance `Brandenburgers’/invaders are still arriving in Europe, and Obama is bringing them here as well. The most imporant function of a central government is to protect the states from invasion.
The EU is aping us, doing away with passports to travel between `states’. The citizens of these (formerly sovereign) states are in the same quandary we’re in: “Why isn’t our government protecting us?”

Exactly. They have already breeched the Gates of Vienna in revenge. May those brave Poles who died saving Austrians in that epic battle of the West against Islamic hordes rest in peace.

The West is weak.

Problem is, the thief hasn't left yet. To the contrary, he's lounging around and consuming the fruits of the homeowner, leaving the homeowner poorer and less safe. And the government is aiding and abetting him.

Battle of Vienna 9-11-1863.

Poles went to help Christians fight Muslim hordes from Ottoman £Empire.

Christians kicked axx.

Google it. 9-11 will always be a date to be extra vigilante about Muslim get even attacks.
