More likely they would have simply developed an indigenous production capability, thereby depriving us of a short hair to grab them by in the event of a conflict.

Within weeks many of you will be looking across just hundreds of feet of water at some of the most modern technology ever invented in America. Fortunately, it is on Chinese ships.

How is this relevant to what is happening today? The Soviet Union is long gone. Now we have a situation wherein Putin is backing Assad and fighting ISIS. Our “ally”, the KSA, is backing ISIS. We’re either supplying ISIS, fighting it, or ignoring it, depending upon whose claims you believe.

I’d say just let Putin bomb the crap out of them, and stay out of the way, we’ve lost enough good people there.

The Russians can’t keep fighter jets flying missions because of lack of parts and maintenance needed. Ships require the same or the turbine oil lubricating line gaskets blow. Just one example because I’m from a mechanical background, I imagine the electronic elements require maintenance as well. Just because it floats doesn’t mean it will be effective. In that case it becomes nothing more than a target. A weak one at that.
