The Russian leader also warned it would have serious consequences for his country's relations with Turkey

A Russian rescue helicopter has been shot down by Syrian rebels while searching for pilots missing after Turkey downed a Russian jet.

The helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in a government-held area in Syria's Latakia province.

A Syrian insurgent group, which uses U.S. Tow missiles, said its fighters hit the helicopter with an anti-tank missile.

Video footage has emerged online appearing to show the helicopter after it crashed in dense woodland.

Plumes of smoke can be seen coming from the aircraft.

Vladmir Putin earlier warned Turkey of "significant consequences" after the Russian plane was shot down.

Guy on Fox just said you don’t shoot when the aircraft isn’t showing attack manuvers...which he wasn’t. He further said his direction was south into Syria and based on the evidence was in Turkey space about 17 seconds.

Turkey signed the agreement along with the Us and coalition group....the pilot was headed south into Syria, showed no attack manuvers and was actually in Turkeys zone about 17 seconds....you don’t shoot under those circumstances...and understood by all you don’t.

Turkey’s Erdogan would love nothing more to incite a war between Russia and the US......He’s been “arranging” all he can to make that happen.

This was the hind end of the 'Arab Spring' MB operation which destabilized governments across North Africa and tried to get Syria, too. Syria was having what amounts to a civil war, and that should have remained an internal matter. Egypt, of the nations destabilized, ousted the MB plant and made their own decisions. Obama is doing what liberals do--he's doubling down, and Assad is hanging on to power even if it means dancing with the Devil. With Obie's agenda and Assad's determination, the involvement of Turkey in NATO and Russia aligned with Assad, this has the makings of a prelude to WWIII.

We have no business in the whole mess, and it is only the Islamist Agenda of the guy in the White Hut and his fellow travelers that is getting us there. By setting the two great western powers (both predominantly at least tacitly Christian) against each other, the Islamists gain.

Because they sell their weapons to our enemies? Well, that is a good point. There is a difference in that this is more direct. We should be on the same side in the war on terrorism. If we had merely sold arms to the Rebels rather than ally with and train them then I could see that we carried no blame. In my view the only thing that lets us off the hook is that we did it before Russia entered the conflict. But Obama will not admit that arming and “training” the “rebels” has failed. I do not trust Obama at all.

Wasn’t he just in Turkey, or am I remembering that wrong?

Not control the M.E. Are you crazy? We need to help them fight terrorism. Why is that so hard to understand?

If the U.S. could ally with the USSR to fight Hitler it can ally with Russia to fight terrorism. The USSR was far worse.

This reminds me of the Lebanese Civil War more than anything else.

Only with the Palestinians being bystanders more than protagonists.

Remember what the Middle East was like before Hillary and Obama set it on fire for their buddies Soros and the Saudis?

Yeah, it was pretty bad. :=|

Russians are just people too. White people, although I suppose that’s a punishable statement under the current circumstances.

I don’t have as much faith in my fellow Americans as you do. I think they will stand for just about anything. Oh we may have little pockets of resistance, but nothing that will make a big enough impact to ward off the danger of that which you mention.
