They should be played off against one another, then humans should kill what’s left.

It’s like the old army saying goes:

“Blue on Blue is tragedy. Red on red is comedy.”

If only we could put Al Qaeda and ISIS on an uninhabited island together and then film the ensuing bloodbath!

> ...someone posted a link to this article in The Atlantic, that discusses their difference and reasons for their mutual dislike. Sunni versus Shiite, innovative versus traditional, etc.

Though I don’t usually approve of articles in The Atlantic, this one seems less slanted than usual. It points out the connection between the Islamic State and early practices and precepts of Islam — and depicts them as the key to understanding what the Islamic State is trying to accomplish. That’s not a politically correct approach.

I haven’t read the whole thing yet, just read part and skimmed the rest (it’s rather depressing to consider these things, but I’ll probably come back to it). One thing I want to point out to you, though. I don’t think Al Queda versus Islamic State is Sunni versus Shiite. If I’m not mistaken, both are Sunni, just different in a good many ways (and of course different too from less radical Sunnis). With such a hodgepodge of weird beliefs it’s hard to say where one ends and the other begins, but apparently both Al Queda and the Islamic State hate Shiites.

Sorry to interrupt the long series of mostly good jokes. I thought that was worth pointing out, though.

Over ten years ago, I attended a conference at my old church concerning ‘The Persecuted Church’. Several of the speakers were from Arab countries. Even at that time, with 40,000 Christians killed annually for their faith, moslems, even then, killed double that number of their ‘brothers’ in faith, BECAUSE of their ‘faith’. If you were a Sunni, for example, a Shia was an ‘apostate’, and worthy of death. Vice versa for a Shia.

Of course, islam is a pale immitation of Christianity, created by a pale immitation of God (lucifer), a being that is mad with rage, out to destroy mankind, that which is made in God’s image; so its no wonder that moslems love to kill ‘infidels’, their religion coming from satan.

That’s what they do when they can’t find any infidels to kill, they go after each other.

Al Qaeda is suicide bombing ISIS? Calling Orville Redenbacher.
Like the old mob wars in NYC, between the Gambinos and Columbos. As long as they were killing each other.

I think Al Qaeda’s leaders realize that ISIL atrocities are too extreme even for very conservative Muslims. Al Qaeda knows that ISIL is so bad Islam is loosing support even within Islamists who want Sharia Law.
