Ninety-five percent of my posting already IS in the public domain, and has been for 45 years! This is merely part of the TV address given by Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau on October 16, 1970, when he proclaimed the War Measures Act. In this posting, all references to 'Canada' and 'Canadians' were replaced by 'this country' and 'citizens' and in one sentence, I removed the word 'kidnappers' and added the word 'terrorists'. Any word or phrase (other than the War Measures Act) that would identify a specific country, was removed. Here is a link to the text of his announcement. Funny how such a speech could be used by almost ANY dictator in almost ANY country, including the US! Unfortunately, I don't think the currency crop of 'pubbies' in your Congress would reject such a change!

In October 1970, cells of the 'Front de Liberation du Quebec', a Marxist, separatist terrorist organization, kidnapped James Cross, the British Trade Commissioner and Pierre LaPorte, Vice-Premier and Labour Minister of Quebec. The 'FLQistes', as they were known, were as bunch of rag-tag terrorists (lone wolves, if you will), with no co-ordination between cells. Intelligence services in Canada knew the FLQ was disorganised, but the Mayor of Montreal and the Premier of Quebec wanted a heavy response to the kidnappings. Turd-owe called it a 'suspended insurrection' and proclaimed the War Measures Act, though it was certainly NOT needed. It suspended the right of 'habeas corpus' in Quebec and sent the Army into the streets of Montreal and Quebec City, as well as Ottawa and Provincial capitals. His actions were strongly supported by English Canada (teach those French commie busturds a lesson!), but resulted in the Particular Quebecois forming a separatist government in Québec in 1976.

Given the leanings of Turd-owe (both Papa Pierre and our current PM, his son Justin) and O'Venal in the white mosque, I could see O'Venal's speech writers copying such a speech AND introducing martial law to combat a 'suspended insurrection' by jihadists. After all, France is STILL under 'emergency measures'! What better way for a dictator to gain power than during such a crisis. Remember, one of his henchmen said to 'never let a good crisis go to waste'!

Gosh darn auto spell check!

‘Particular Quebecois’ should read ‘Parti Quebecois’
