Good poll for Cruz and Trump.

Game on boys!

Also now that Cruz is in the lead all the attention is going to be on him. This is make or break, bring it on!

“Trump didn’t give them enough Jesus.”

This is the Republican primary, in case you forgot. Most of us take God very seriously.

Ah, so if you favor Trump you're a "cultist." I think the old Cruzers are somewhat of "cultists" myself.

Nevertheless, if you've followed my posts all summer you'd know that I never discounted ANY poll, for or against Trump.

The majority of polls will, over time, pretty much set the direction. That said, we have two polls in IA with Trump behind, one with him up, in the last three days. I'm waiting on PPP, which this season has pretty much been the correct indicator for direction. For example, PPP never recorded the Carson "surge." So we'll see.

What will Trump do now in IA? Open his checkbook, add staff, do whatever? He certainly plays to win.

Yea I remember when Carson was polling 10 points ahead of Trump according to the register.

Iowa is a caucus. I expect Trump will hold his own. Of course he’ll have to deal with the razzing he’ll get if he comes in 2nd or all hell breaks lose if he slips to 3rd.

Caucus are a turn out game. It’s a good test for Trump’s viability.

I got to admit that I really do not put any stock in the numbers of people who attend rallies. In the last general election, Romney always had huge rallies and Obama was having difficulty getting people out to his events. FReepers on this db would always talk about it and their belief that good old Obama would lose. I think you know what happened.

The whole poll thing is certainly the most amusing on FR of late.

“Also now that Cruz is in the lead all the attention is going to be on him. This is make or break, bring it on!”

Yep. This should make the debate Tuesday very interesting. I wonder if the moderators will yet again try to cut Cruz out of speaking time.

But that is so inconvenient. We shouldn’t believe\ our lying eyes. Trump with thousands everywhere and the others in the hundreds and more often dozens. Hey, when is the last time they pointed out Cruz attendee counts? Very, very rarely. L\ike almost never.

heh heh

The last two presidents won the Iowa caucuses to start their *SUCCESSFUL* campaigns for president.

Not as relevant as this: the last two gop candidates to win the iowa cuscuses never became the gop nominee.

Des Moines Register hates Trump, so no surprise (or shock)

Em, maybe. Every year there is a different "gold standard," however. In 2000, Zogby was pretty much the only poll showing Bush ahead. Then for a while Rasmussen was the leading poll indicator.

So far this season, the one that has seemed to be most accurate in terms of being a predictor of where things were headed is PPP. But we'll see. Three IA polls in last week, two good for Cruz, one good for Trump. I'm betting IA is a lot closer with a very slight Trump lead.

Either way it's clear that TEMPORARILY Cruz has picked up almost every disaffected Carson supporter. On the one hand that confirms my view that Carson's support was almost entirely "church lady" from the get go, but refutes my view that Cruz and Trump would split these evenly.

Just ask some Trump supporter. They always seem to know what Trump meant to say.
