AIKEN, S.C. — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is "disgraceful" and a "disappointment" to conservatives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Saturday, while praising Associate Justice Clarence Thomas as his favorite member of the high court.
"Justice Roberts really let us down. What he did with Obamacare was disgraceful, and I think he did that because he wanted to be popular inside the Beltway," Trump told about 4,000 supporters.

And enough Bush supporters to fill a fleet of tour buses. But things do change due to events and many have wised up after becoming the results of their reckless policies.
Voted for Roberts as what? Cruz was elected to the Senate in 2012. Roberts was confirmed by the Senate as Chief Justice in 2005.
BTW, every Republican Senator voted to confirm Roberts. No one knew then what we know now.

As I’ve already noted, I made a mistake. Cruz wasn’t in the Senate when Roberts was nominated. However, Cruz did publicly support the nomination.
In 2005, Cruz was Texas Solicitor General (appointed by the Texas Attorney General). Very few people other than lawyers had ever heard of him. The first time he ran for public office was when he ran for Senate in 2012. If he publicly supported Roberts, no one would have ever heard of it.
In fairness to those who actually did support Roberts, he was better than Bush’s first pick, Harriet Miers. All of the Republicans on the Senate voted for him and most of the Democrats voted against him, because everyone thought he would be conservative.
Trump has this uncanny way of saying everything that’s on my mind.

A lot of folks supported Roberts. They had no way of telling in 2005 that he would betray the basic tenets of jurisprudence in 2012 and 2015.
He was certainly a better choice than Harriet Myers, which unleashed a firestorm of protest.
Cruz is blameless here.
I give Trump a lot of credit because very few have stated the obvious—that Roberts made horrible rulings on Obamacare that let us down and prevented a stake from being rightfully driven into its heart.
He also mentioned Alito and Scalia, likes them both.

Harriet Miers was the ultimate crony nomination. She was a partner in a large Dallas law firm and was a big fund raiser for Bush. After Bush was elected, she went to work as Bush’s White House Counsel. She has never had any judicial experience.

Alito recently said she was in the room with Bush during his first interview for the appointment. If I recall correctly, he didn’t get it that time but the next time around.
I agree 100%. Thomas is deepest thinker on Court.
When was Kelo decision?
Everything business as usual. At least they have stricter requirements and standards in other fields such as Home Depot.
