The remains of the six Americans killed by a Taliban attacker in Afghanistan Monday were due to arrive back in the U.S. on Wednesday after an emotional ceremony at Bagram Air Field.
Some U.S. servicemembers kneeled in front of the victims' photos, guns and helmets. Others saluted.
Service members from several units at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, pay their respects during a fallen comrade ceremony held in honor of six Airmen Dec. 23, 2015. The six Airmen lost their lives in an improvised explosive attack near Bagram Dec. 21, 2015. (DVIDS) The six soldiers, one woman and five men, died when a suicide bomber drove his explosives-laden motorcycle into a joint NATO-Afghan patrol near Bagram. Two U.S. troops and an Afghan were also wounded in that attack -- the deadliest day for American troops in Afghanistan since May 2013.
Pentagon officials said a dignified transfer of remains would take place at New Castle Air National Guard Base in Delaware. Defense Secretary Ash Carter planned to participate, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said.

“...one was...a lesbo...”
Still wearing the uniform, still putting her life on the line, still just as dead. She had family, she had friends. I will pray for all six but maybe a little more for her. She has a pretty big sin to be forgiven for.
You have my utmost respect and deepest sympathy for the loss of your son. I can only hope and pray that God will bless you in his own way for you and your family shouldering such a horrendous sacrifice.
And our asshole president plays golf.
Words cannot describe the distain I have for that SOB.
“I will pray for all six but maybe a little more for her. She has a pretty big sin to be forgiven for.”
Very good and quite true.
But for my part it still goes in my “asked for it, got it” file.
Yeah, she was a pervert. But far worse that she was an activist for her perversion, who contributed to inflicting her filth and deviancy onto the culture and the law. That’s something I can never, ever forgive.
“But for my part it still goes in my âasked for it, got itâ file”
I’ll tell you of another one. April, 2004 central Iraq. While traveling north to Baghdad on MSR Tampa I see a cut-vee MP Hummer with a young-20 something female standing in the gunner’s hatch. No kevlar, body armor or even BDU top. Just a brown t-shirt while she’s swagging her long brunette hair back and forth as they pass Iraqis. About 3 weeks later I read a news story out of Ohio about a young woman bemoaning the death of her sister who was an MP in Iraq who got sniped the week before. Yup, it was her.
My first thought. Who doesn’t cancel their plans, who still plays golf on vacation???? He should be strictly focusing on those families. Skip Christmas. That’s what you do. He reminds me of someone who parties down a week after losing their spouse.
Completely clueless or a big giant *ff you! I don’t know which.
“what is âOffice of Special Investigations?â”
My sister was the first female agent in OSI. They handle any investigation that involves the Air Force; murder, suicide, fraud, espionage...If the Air Force is involved it’s their case. They frequently work with local law enforcement or other agencies when the jurisdictions intersect.
God Bless you. I can’t even imagine the pain
Oh I just watched your beautiful you tube tribute to your son Karl. What a handsome and brave young man you raised. Tears for your loss.
In the Air Force, OSI mission is not limited to criminal investigations. Their mission includes the counter intelligence roles associated with air base defense. In simple terms, their mission extends beyond the wire to find and fix the threats that might support and execute indirect fires on the air base. The Army does this mission with military intelligence resources.
The OSI agents have suffered 10 killed in action in the past 12 years of combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are not just looking for cool dudes selling weed in the chow hall.
The OSI agents were going to a meeting. Their security force was provided by the 820 Base Defense Group. These guys are trained to operate outside the wire and understand the many years of lessons learned from VBIED attacks. These guys understood the thread and recognized the motorcycle threat. This dude was stopped and searched. They did not find the explosive and when the OSI team left the meeting, the suicide bomber went straight to the target and detonated himself. His torso was found 60 meters away from the blast. Remember, none of the security force was authorized to engage per ROE until the bomb was detonation.
This is what life in Obama Land goes on every day in Crazy Land.
