This is the kind of comment that creates, encourages and exacerbates the level of acrimony currently present here on FR...it’s not needed nor beneficial in any way.

Because I guarandamntee you that creating said acrimony is going to live on well beyond the election. Look no further than the previous (2012) election threads to see that it still exists today.

Dividing conservatives through mockery, ad hominem and spite is troll’s work...

"Because TIME magazine is always right"

I thought appearing on a Time cover was the kiss of death. When a trend becomes obvious even to MSM writers at publications like Time, the New York Times, and the Washington Post, it's pretty much over. It should be all down hill for Trump from here on.

If they have an election, Trump will win.
Both parties know this.

Which is why my first word is "if".

Assuming of course, he's still alive at the time of the election.

If Cruz does happen to win the nomination, will you vote for him or will you be staying home hoping for a Clinton win

Personally, I'll vote for Cruz, but it won't matter. He can't win the general against Hitlery, for a number of reasons. This is why it needs to be Trump/Cruz - I don't entirely trust Trump, but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, thanks to the fact that he is currently ripping the GOP to shreds. This needs to be done.

Also, due to his liberal leanings in the past, he appeals to a far wider audience than does Cruz. In fact, if Trump DID run 3rd party, he would have the greatest chance of actually winning in history.

But I want Cruz behind him, again, for a few reasons. As mentioned previously, I don't entirely trust Trump - he's going to need to do some YUGE things once elected to gain my full trust. Cruz is most certainly a Conservative, and by working through 8 years of the Trump admin, he'll gain the experience, trust of a wider audience and name recognition, all in time for his own run for another 8 years.

We need to quickly realize that this election is indeed the most important election of our lifetime, and we need to do it right, or get ready for uglier weather.

Remember Clinton's final year in office, when the same was said about his desire to remain by finding an excuse to cancel the elections? I have not gone to the archives (yet) but I'll wager there were a lot of threads about it.

If Obama tries it, how do we respond?

OK, I went to FR archives and searched cancel election, but got nothing from the end of the Clintoon regime. Either they are not there or I didn’t do it right.

Yes. The Trump vs Cruz vs Trump vs Cruz arguments remind me of grade school children.

"Trump or Cruz, Cruz or Trump for me as well".

Do you mean after all this time of campaigning and discussion of issues you STILL don't know who you want to support or to get busy working for?

YOU CAN ONLY VOTE FOR ONE CANDIDATE or the other. Have you no convictions by now? You are useless to both candidates.

Are you even aware that in a radio interview Cruz declared he would NOT be a veep candidate for Trump....and I doubt Trump would take on the useless, funeral-attending job of veep for Cruz. So forget about any pipe-dreams of a "dream team".

It's so easy and lazy to say I'll vote for either candidate at this stage of the game. This means you don't have to support or lift a finger for either one.

I submit that folks like you should get OUT of the comfy wagon you're in and help HAUL IT for your candidate of choice.

As the king sang in "The King and I"..."it's a puzzlement"....and it IS a puzzlement that some folks can't make a choice by now.

It's like if I were a DemoRat and intoned solemnly and wimpily, "I will vote for Hillary or O'Malley or O'Malley or Hillary" just before the Dem caucuses are at hand. This would show that I was a useless, neutered, non-working supporter of neither.

Anyone who doesn’t vote should have NO right to complain or even later on make any comments on or about whoever our next president is. They gave up their voice because they didn’t vote.

I'll always vote for the most conservative guy there is in the primary and it's unfortunate that other conservatives don't do the same. I'm tired of getting burned by political chameleons who tell us what we want to hear every 4 years and then conveniently forget.

Anyone who thinks Cruz can't win the general election is a defeatist and knows nothing about the battles that went on in '76 and again in '79. They are also unaware of the fact that the conventional wisdom at that time is identical to what you're saying about Cruz. That conservatives would vote for a candidate with a liberal pedigree, because they believe it offers greater appeal, is one of the saddest commentaries I've seen here in a long time.

Don't misunderstand me here...I'm not voting for Trump because of his liberal pedigree - That very thing is what I don't trust about him, but then again, Reagan was a dummycrat at one point, too, and Trump is in fact the shrewd businessman. I believe many of his liberal dealings were likely due to him doing what was needed to further his own business agenda.

I support Trump for one simple reason: He's absolutely shredding the GOP, and this, above all else, must be done. They have proven nothing more than backstabbing traitors and must be dealt with accordingly. I've spent the last 25 years voting for the "most Conservative", read "Lesser evil", and the one and only thing that has accomplished is to push the party further and further to the left. I'm done with that.

I absolutely support Cruz, because he is absolutely a hardcore, dyed in the wool Conservative. That's also the reason I suggest he can't win in the general - yet. BUT, given 8 years as Trump's Veep, I do believe he will not only gain the status he's going to need to take over the following 8 years, but he'll also work to keep Trump in line, if that is indeed needed.

The truth is, I'm holding out for Trump/Cruz 2016 because I believe this is THE MOST important election in the history of our Country. If it isn't Trump/Cruz, I strongly believe we will likely see a hitlery landslide, unfortunately.

Thanks! In my haste to post this (gotta beat those other Freepers!) I failed to notice the actual size of this pic. The Time website scaled the pic to the size you have posted, as did my image host. Purely unintentional, it was. (h/t: Yoda)
