The conservative movement is not as conservative as you think. That is the point.

It really isn't a conservative (beginning to hate that word, the way it is used to beat up each other) movement. It's an us versus them movement. People on the left, center and right are fed up with the political establishment that has so screwed up our country.

Palin's speeches ever since the 2008 election have been all about taking on the crony capitalism of the powers that be and defeating them. She sees Trump as the best vehicle to do that at this time. In my book, taking on the establishment is a very conservative thing to do.

Trump’s may not be a dyed-in-the-wool conservative, but nobody questions that he’s a patriot. That’s more important right now.

Everyone and their mother claims to be a “Conservative”, its meaningless. Its a lot harder to claim to be a Nationalist, while flooding the border with Mexicans and h1-b1 slave wagers.

It sure beats electing impotent Tea Partiers to congress.

Trump is the only person out there who could actually upset the apple cart. This of course pisses off everyone with an agenda on both sides.

Many people who have gone along with the conservative line have done it mostly on the basis that the republican party is more inline with pro-american values. So the movement has always been in part nationalistic, IMO.

Conservatives are the Blacks on the GOP plantation.

For decades we have shook our heads wondering why blacks line up to vote for the Dims decade after decade despite the utter destruction the Dims have brought to their community.

Trump has made many of them realize Conservatives are the Blacks of the GOP plantation. We line up year after year, sacrifice our time and money, and what do we get? A GOP political machine this is virtually identical to the Dims who comes around every 2 years saying “If you just give us this, everything will be awesome.”

Ask yourself this. Despite giving the entire Government to the GOP under Bush, was any item on the Conservative agenda advanced?

Sadly the answer is NO. And what many of us are realizing is the tools of the Conservative establishment i.e. Town-hall, Heritage Foundation, Club for Growth, NRO, Weekly Standard, Fox News, etc are the GOP equivalents of the “Civil Rights Leaders” that keep Blacks on the Democrat’s plantation

Shameless idolatry of Cruz supporters is noticeable in that no matter what is pointed out to them, the idol worshipers never respond to the substance they merely attack the message

Exactly, they just have to imply that you may not be a ‘Conservative’, and people cower in fear.

Imagine giving this advice to a Republican presidential candidate: What if you stopped calling yourself a conservative and instead just promised to make America great again?

What if you dropped all this leftover 19th-century piety about the free market and promised to fight the elites who were selling out American jobs?

What if you just stopped talking about reforming Medicare and Social Security and instead said that the elites were failing to deliver better healthcare at a reasonable price?

What if, instead of vainly talking about restoring the place of religion in society something that appeals only to a narrow slice of Middle America. You simply promised to restore the Middle American core, the economic and cultural losers of globalization to their rightful place in America?

What if you said you would re store them as the chief clients of the American state under your watch, being mindful of their interests when regulating the economy or negotiating trade deals?

You accused me of being ignorant. Thats namecalling and a typical lefty tactic when they can’t defend their candidate.

Ok, I hear you all. Cruz is the only real conservative here. And I will certainly vote for him. But Trump is offering us something that can’t be ignored. Trump is breaking through the corrupt media and the corrupt republican establishment. He is exploding a corrupt election process that undermined every conservative who got anywhere close to the White House.

Four years ago you watched every conservative moved above Romney in turn, before some disqualifying revelation would turn up. Then the media would only report that one issue until the polls showed that the candidate was dead or he quit. Do you not believe they have Cruz’s number as well. Do you really think Cruz will be able to debate his way out of it, when they only ask one question and never report his full answer. Cruz is not big enough to stop it. He’s smarter than the rest. He is right on all the issues. But he is not an A list media person. So he relies on news media to make him a star. Trump is a star.

Trump is blowing throw the media like a jack hammer. He is blowing through the big money because he doesn’t need it. And that’s not because he has lots of money. He does. But he is getting free, and better TV time on every media outlet. Not just those boring news outlets that nobody watches or those endless 30 second commercials. Trump shows up on real television. And they are glad to have him. Even on Saturday Night Live, they gave him a pass while he hosted the show and was in almost every sketch. Most of them were flattering to him.

Sarah and Rush are seeing this, both are stars in their own right. So, they know the situation. Trump is doing something nobody else can do. And the country, especially the conservative movement, needs it to happen. Republicans need to stay away from the news media. They are corrupt. Conservatives need to watch out for big money. Big money has bought the republican hierarchy. And if Trump is successful both will come tumbling down. Afterwards,
conservatives will have a fairer playing field.

are you serious? you equate impotence with being unable to get things exactly your way

that is just plain ol’ dumb

Did they eliminate Obamacare? No. But they told us they would.

Then they went to Washington and, well, you know, it was just too hard.

Impotent.

You’re confusing trump supporters.

Cruz supporters like the fact he’s never donated to the left, never advanced liberal ideas and never praised liberals politicians.

Cruz is consistent Conservative. Trump still likes single payer.
