A so called Principled Conservative cannot win.

Trump has a chance precisely because he not an Ideologue, ideology and philosophy have nothing to do with this, it is the anger built up over time by people because they feel betrayed by all of our leaders.

Well said, and unfortunately true. Expect lots of whining below from offended folks who cannot even be bothered to look at electoral maps and past results, let alone identify the dozen swing states of which a majority must be won. ( This must be how an Oncologist feels telling the patient about that other C-word ).

Even Mark Levin does this, lately crying about abandoning principles, even though it is just this one office on quadrennial years which demands this intelligent ideological discretion. They would be able to cry about abandoning principles if we were talking about the House, Senate, Governors, Supreme Court and everything else. But no-one is doing that.

As far as the (R)epublicrat RINOs talking up Trump, it's very simple. These are lowlife politicians. They needed a way to walk back off the ledges they climbed out on ever since this summer when Trump came along and exposed them all. Ted Cruz, simply provides a convenient lifeline for the Republisaurs to re-enter the game.

However, what awaits them in Trump is not a typical politician ready to negotiate business-as-usual though they might expect it. By saying make deals with the establishment Trump is weaving his spider web, Art of the Deal style, successfully triangulating all the players while wielding massive amounts of leverage. I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

No. It would only destroy our liberty, wreck our economy and undermine the greatest health care system the world has even known.

A little more meaningful than switching a vote to make the Corker Bill 98-2 rather than 99-1.

Try again.

Hank

lol, I think The Donald could handle wall building, but the multitude of constitutionally complex bureaucratic corrections that need to be made and the principled leadership that will inevitably be needed is not something he’s ready for.

A very dignified turn of phrase and appreciated in the midst of the current and ongoing food fight fit, between ourselves, in which we have nearly all been engaged. I, for one, quite agree with you.

Politically, TRUMP won vastly many hearts with his take-no-prisoners approach to the ongoing illegal invasion, the intentional dashing of any semblance of US law and order on the border, and the inarguable degree of hospitable deference to and tolerance for the mobs of invaders ever since.

This condition of lax enforcement on the border has existed for now decades, but Obama has opened the floodgates for his own purposes for turning America blue, union and worse.

TRUMP seems to have gotten the entire picture and speaks of no-mercy address of the situation, to not only stop it, but to actually reverse it, and to make believers of us all that it shall be done.

I believe that determination to even dare to paint such a picture qualifies for proof that he is interested in giving it more than the usual lip service and the old college try.

THAT is what gets my vote.

The other candidates are not interested in reversal, nor consequences for the invasion, but rather they believe the United States is and should remain the chief nurse maid and bottle washer for the socialist masses to the south, not a great and sovereign nation. Otherwise, their appeasement and deference would be not to the open borders crowd, but to the American people who fund their abuse of our purse.

Good one. Cruz said something to that effect in one of the debates... said he would build the Wall and get Trump to PAY for it.

That said if Cruz wins he should put Trump in charge of building the Wall. Trump would do a great job of it... just like Cruz would make a first-rate SC Justice when Trump wins.

What a fail excuse.

Good God.

I’m sorry, a 98-2 vote would have shown that he is not for funding and arming terrorists and then pretending like he’s against it.

I tell you what, Hank, if I was in the senate, and that bill was about to pass, it would have to pass without my vote, even if the count was 99,000,000,000,000,000,000-1.

You know what would destroy our liberty, wreck our economy and undermine the greatest health care system the world has ever known?

A nuclear missile in our eye.

What a pathetic post, Hank.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

"You should be ashamed of yourself."

You clearly have no idea what the word "shame" means - or you couldn't possibly support Trust Fund Donnie.

Trump supporters continue to “define conservatism down.” They know they can’t win against Cruz by arguing Trump is more conservative, so now we’re getting open bashing of conservative leaders and conservative policies. It’s disgusting.

Trump has said repeatedly he was an establishment guy before he started running. Now the establishment is praising him and he is praising the establishment in his speeches. I think he said “we need establishment.” The articles have said many of the GOP elite have had private meetings with him recently. The deals have most likely already been cut and conservatives have already been thrown under the bus. We don’t have much time to turn this primary around and make it sure it goes to the rare, true conservative, Cruz.

I obviously don’t know what “principled conservative” means either, or I wouldn’t be able to support Ted Cruz either, now would I?

Because no principled conservative would have voted for the Corker Bill, which is why none of you can defend what he did in any way.

“How do we know Trump would really build the wall if he were to win? What if he changes his mind as he so often does?

If ideology or philosophy has nothing to do with it, how do we know he really intends to build a wall in the first place?”

I think he has to because his name and brand are at stake. And if he does it, he wins. And he loves to win. He also loves to be loved.

If he makes Americans richer, they will buy even more of his books and ties than ever before. And more of them will be able to afford to stay at his resorts. It’s part of winning for him.

Can you imagine what a feat it would be to successfully complete the wall? It would be one of his greatest accomplishments, when no one could do it and everyone said that it couldn’t be done. And it would probably really be called the Great Wall of Trump for generations. He’ll do it.

So a first term senator is ready but a proven business leader is not ready?

Do you have any idea what it takes to lead?

Cruz has proven he can not lead. If he could, he would not have been standing alone in the Obamacare flight. He would not have been standing alone when he called McConnell a liar.

Leading is about selecting the right people to help you accomplish what you want to accomplish.

You hire the right people, you tell them what you want to achieve, you tell them to come up with a plan for achieving the goal, you decide on the best idea presented, you set deadlines and for each step of the plan, you check on the progress and help where you are needed, you achieve the goal.

Trump IS leadership personified.

The rat will take out Cruz a lot more easily than Trump. I suspect reverse psychology going on here.

Agree 100%. They cooked up this plot a few weeks ago out of desperation because they have nothing else. Ol' Trent Lott knows how deeply we despise him and he thinks we'll instinctively go out and vote Cruz out of spite. Hey, Trent: Kiss my grits. You're about to be hit with a Trumpnado, you worthless piece of pond scum.
