All in all, we ended up getting about 20 inches of snow. I'm having the time of my life. I love snow. I've spent about 12 hours shoveling snow over the past two days. I think it's the best workout ever. I feel great. I've accomplished more in the last two days than in all of my 32 years working for the federal government.
Glad you like it. I’m happy not to be there.

And his is an artful essay?.....
That’s just sad.
The closest city to me(Allentown, PA) got 31.9” of snow from this storm. I’m tired of shoveling snow.
And the Pansies in Congress decided to take the next week off, but you and I are going to work, aren’t we.
Perhaps we should decline to pay our taxes for a week. Snowstorm y’know
Better you than me then!
I’m going snorkeling
shoveling snow kills
tomorrow the stories of heart attacks induced by shoveling snow will begin
After two hard winters and lots of snow here in northern Indiana, I am thankful for the mild winter we’ve had so far this year. But I got a good workout today too. It’s 37 degrees and my wife and I just got back from a nice long walk.
I spent several hours today shoveling, clearing my deck, raking my roof (then shoveling again), and then clearing paths in the yard for the dog to use as toilet and also I cleared some paths to the bird feeders. At first, my fingers were getting cold but the hard work warmed them up.
I then brought in some woods from the woodpile, after shaking all the snow off the logs. That made my fingers cold again. But for some reason, my feet don't get that cold. Since my shoes were soaking wet and I didn't want to put them on, I went outside in my bare feet to get some wood and my feet didn't seem to mind too much.
It's not a bad time of year. I like winter, in moderation.
define 'working'?
Yea, my son and I went out at least 4 times during the storm to move snow. On one outing, we discovered the wind had loosened a roof vent. We have those spinning turbine type vents.
That meant a trip up on the roof during a blizzard. I grabbed a claw hammer just in case I slipped.
Today, we moved more snow, then we decided to build a Quinzee hut (snow cave) Our Trail Life USA troop is going to upstate NY in February to do snow cave camping.
All was going well till the top caved in on me. It was a bit scary but I could feel my kid shoveling me out. He kept hitting me with the shovel.
Lots of fun.
That all? We got almost double that in WV.
Definitely a great workout, and the cold helps you burn calories.
I’d rather be snorkling like you.
When did they start giving names to winter storms?
I’m not a professional writer and I don’t play one on TV. The website is a hobby. I write when inspired—be it a paragraph for comedy or a serious lengthier one, all of which can be found in Posts. If you explore the website, you’ll also find a great book list and compilation of links to like-minded organizations.
I post about three articles per day on the Daily Feast. I comb the depths of the web for the most informative and stimulating essays I can find, predominantly taken from scholars and sources rarily cited on other pages.
My apologies for not being artful enough.
