A 14-year-old girl wounded during the shooting rampage in Kalamazoo, Mich., was declared brain-dead and about to have her organs harvested when she suddenly showed signs of life, according to a new report Monday.
Michigan State Police Lt. Dale Hinz told ABC that the girl's family said Bronson Methodist Hospital was preparing to remove the girl's organs for donation when she squeezed her distraught mom's hand.
The girl squeezed her mother's hand again when the mom asked if her daughter could hear her, Hinz said.
She also gave thumbs-up signs with both hands when a doctor asked her to give him a thumbs-up if she could hear him, Hinz said.

Indeed! This is the frightening part of donating organs. Who doesn’t want to help out other people, but that was almost a tragedy for the family. What if the mother hadn’t been holding her hand? Prayers for all those involved in this cruel tragedy.
It makes you wonder how many organs are harvested from others who are just “mostly dead”.
Doctors do not know everything. A horrible death was averted here by the grace of God.
There’s still plenty of time to abort her though.
I was talking to the director of a funeral home in Norfolk, VA.
I sort of casually asked if they ever had any wake up. He replied that they had one just the week before. They called an ambulance and took him to the hospital.
It does make you realize that they are not as perfect as some of them claim at determining when a person is brain dead or just dead at all.
Well she sure as hell wasn’t brain dead!
The so-called “doctor” should be de-licensed.

The way the headline read, I thought they went ahead with the organ harvest anyway!
George Carlin had a routine on that. “The paramedics see organ donor on your license, you think they’re going to try to save you. ‘Don’t give him any oxygen, he’s got that liver we’ve been looking for!” It’s on YouTube, but I didn’t link it because of language.
Wow... they don’t even wait for you to flatline before they start taking your organs? That’s really cold.
I’m on the fence regarding organ donation after reading material from a prolife group a few years ago. Organs must be harvested while the person is still alive-at the moment a person dies an enzyme is released that makes the organs unusable. How can we be absolutely sure the patient will never recover? This story is just one more that makes me wonder if we are playing God.
My goodness they are calling this the “Uber shooting”?
Suppose the shooter ate SPAM, would they call it the “SPAM shooting”?
Why is Uber such a target in a one off event like this?
The answer: Uber is new and only the media can tell you whether it is safe.
The reality: the media is the last place for education for safety. Science is much better.
