As Donald Trump picks up momentum, the chances of a well-funded assault to block him from the Republican presidential nomination are dramatically dwindling, according to interviews with about a dozen donors and operatives who are appalled by the billionaire real estate showman's campaign.
The party's elite donor class has mostly closed its checkbooks to groups dedicated to stopping Trump, while the outfits that have built massive reserves are increasingly deciding to forgo anti-Trump campaigns, despite widespread fears that he is making a mockery of conservatism and could undermine Republicans up and down the ballot.
The deepest-pocketed operation on the right, the network helmed by the billionaires Charles and David Koch, had seriously debated launching an aggressive assault on Trump, but sources familiar with the network's planning tell POLITICO that's now highly unlikely. And the Karl Rove-conceived Crossroads outfits also are sitting out the party's bitter primary, instead spending their cash attacking Democrats.

The smart thing to do would be to cede the nomination to Trump and work to elect Republicans to DC. Saving the US Senate will be tough (many conservatives aren’t voting for the backstabbers up for re-election) and even the HOR could be lost if they Cochran-style steal the nomination from Trump.

I agree with you - Trust, but verify. The above would be TOTALLY OUT OF CHARACTER for Rove. If true, I would be impressed by just the fact that Rove realizes there is another party that has to be defeated in November.

Neither. Merely the vapid whining of a losing candidate’s supporter to arrogantly wedded to their emotional support for said candidate to think about anything at all.
Making a mockery of conservatism? lol - why do we project onto Donald what we want him to be and act surprised when he doesn’t act the part? I watch as my Christian friends wring their hands in despair that ‘evangelicals’ are voting for him en masse. I wonder if they’ve ever stopped to think how liberally the term ‘evangelical’ is being applied? Wake up call, everyone. We have shifted so far left and, every four years, the progressive educational system produces another voting bloc that will only continue to push us far left. This is the craziest election cycle and anyone 40 and up, from this day forward, will fail to recognize any candidate as conservative for the balance of our days... not any candidate that gets to the presidency.
My response to all of this is to focus my time and energy re-calibrating my kids perspectives on topics when they come to be confused by what they’re hearing from their peers both at school and at church. I’ll vote in November even if I have to pinch my nose just to keep the ‘center flag’ from barreling well past center and us into the mud pit... heck. Who am I kidding - we’re there... we just realize it yet.
They mentioned this on MSNBC last night. I heard one of the commentators say that they don’t want to attack Trump as it was tried and turned out to be a waste of time and some serious money.
And your argument is made without factual support or evidence. I post a fact, supported with the words of the candidate in question to explain the reason for the above situation. You post a name calling diatribe. I rest my case.
