Trump is a card carrying member of the global elitist donor class. Just ask Bill and Hillary.
Even billionaires hurt when they spend maybe $200 million dollars and have nothing to show for it. No mafia tactics imagined by Trump are needed. They fought a battle to stop Trump that drained their budgets for the primaries and have zero to show for it.
The republicans currently holding elective office have made a mockery of conservatism, except for a handful.
It begs the question though, why would Trump even make the threat? Either he doesn't have evidence and just want to silence opposition, or he has evidence and will proceed. But if he has the evidence, why not just release it and destroy the corruption for good? I would suggest that the point is not to eliminate the corruption, but rather to control it.
I saw only one threat to the Cubs owner. I don’t think that is a factor in major PACS withholding more money for attack ads. I think they ran down their primary budgets.
I’m pretty sure there are still some deep pockets remaining. Perhaps they are waiting to see who emerges in the end. It look promising for Trump, but the primary isnt over. Still, it seem puzzling that the opposition to Trump isn’t fighting.

I don't see a cease fire. I still see them fighting - just failing.
It could be they are in the process of firing their media marketing people and hiring new attackers. That takes time. Contracts negotiated. Budgets set. New strategies to be worked out for attack campaigns. Maybe it's too late? I can see an anti-Trump PAC going to people who do this for a living and I can see those people saying - "we can take your money but what we do may not work at this stage of the campaign".
BTW, thanks for a pleasant discussion. It gotten to point that any questions about campaign tactics are being met with juvenile ridicule. That's going to hurt us all in the general election.
I enjoy analysis and strive to be facts neutral even if it is for or against my favored candidate. I am a politics and foreign policy nerd.

That seems to be an all too common occurrence in dealing with Trump supporters.
Those of us who recognize the extreme danger can at least be secure in knowledge that we won’t have that OMG! What have I done moment.
If you cannot comprehend the difference between who is the aggressor and who is the defender in this case, and the moral/intellectual difference between aggression and defense there simply is no rational basis for us to have a discussion.

The reason these donors are sitting back is because Trump knows them all and will call them out by name like he’s doing to Rickets. They don’t want the notoriety.
