Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has one option if he wants to win the Republican nomination. Tomorrow night, during a debate with Donald Trump, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ohio Governor John Kasich, and Dr. Ben Carson, Cruz must clock Trump as hard as he can with his best rhetorical punch. He can't be lawyerly. He can't be civil. He has to get in the mud with Trump and pulverize him. There are three reasons for that.
Rubio Will Never Drop Out... Rubio's going nowhere...
Cruz Must Win More Than Texas On March 1, Or he's toast. Again, the fact that Rubio won't drop out under any circumstances means that Cruz can't hope to win a bunch of second places in the SEC primary, then go forward and pick up Rubio's supporters. Rubio will still be in after the SEC primary. And as we saw in Iowa, even a Cruz victory turns into a Rubio victory in the media...
So, all of this means that Cruz will actually have to beat Trump outright with Rubio still in the race, not wait for the never-gonna-happen Rubio flameout. He can do it, but only by recognizing that Trump is the biggest set of balls in the race, and the only way to defeat Trump is by kicking him directly in the groin on national television. That means Cruz should unleash everything up to and including the kitchen sink. He's going to have to out-masculine Trump.
He should face down Trump and say to him, "Donald, for months, everybody has been tiptoeing around you out of courtesy. Enough. We all know you're a spoiled brat who's never had anybody say no to him. You're a pathetic, bloated old man who stood on daddy's money stack to make billions, and then can't shut up about how he's a self-made man. You're a ridiculous dolt who lies about his politics, brags about having sex with married women, and shafts little old ladies for cash. And every time you are attacked, your face turns as red as the Kool-Aid man -just like it's doing now. Then you cite polls, as though polls make you not all those things. They don't. You're just as much of a ridiculous clown as you ever were."
If Trump tries to interrupt him, Cruz will have to tell him to shut the hell up, and then not back down.
It will be brutal. But if Cruz wants to win, he's going to have no other choice. Trump won't be defeated so long as both Cruz and Rubio are in the race, and Rubio's going nowhere. Somebody's going to have to knock King Trump off the top of the hill.

A bit of advice:
You will save yourself a heap of disappointment if you all STOP concocting bulls*it fantasy scenarios where some magic event is going to “sink Trump” and magically turn the election around for Cruz.
This guy has had 6 MONTHS to take command of this race. Cruz is not the type of person that can command jack squat.
He was supposed to be the greatest debater in history, and he hasn’t managed to do jack with it. He was supposed to have this magic ground game and secret army of evangelicals....what happened to that?

Instead he has an army of frigging loud mouth fanboys that will spin all types of bull about his magical powers and political genius. People are not buying it! Results spoke louder than their malarkey. But fo0r some reason they keep on piling more baloney on top. Only embarrassing themselves.

The writing is on the wall for Ted now and even though I stated I support Ted and still would vote for Trump in the national election.
However I think even the most ardent voter for Ted now would not put a few hundred on him to win the nomination now.
Beck was a massive failure, why oh why did he have Beck the loon there. His spokesman was an idiot who along with some others deserved and deserves to be fired.
The campaign relied on evangelicals when in reality there is not enough fo them and the myth of millions staying at home was not true.

What if Trump just said, Thank You Cruz for giving me the opportunity to show how measured and restrained I can be (Presidential).

You make a good point, Trump is pretty much debate proof.
I just hope he plays rope-a-dope and let’s them flail away. He gains nothing by wrestling with pigs at this point.

It’s easy for Trump to overcome this. Let Cruz do his rant and then tell the truth. “Ted...I know that this isn’t you. Your campaign is in desperate trouble. This is the last gasp of a dying campaign. And instead of dying with dignity you’re got to try one last desperate thing....you’re going out spitting, crying and vindictive. I feel sorry for you Ted.”
Dumb idea.
Cruz had better start attacking Rubio if he does not want to come in 3rd
in most SEC primaries.
Cruz will get a massive round of applause at the debate if he does this..and people will say that is the establishment attacking Trump. They will side with Trump.
Cruz supporters must face the fact that the so-called brilliant Cruz laughed off Trump just like the media for far too long..and Trump came in like a hurricane and swept up everthing.

Have a YUGE meltdown and throw a tantrum and get Kasich all excited about moving up into your third place slot, while Trump smiles and Rubio giggles. Hey, you even woke Ben up.
If Cruz wants to get out of politics, this would be epic for the lulz. Maybe take a screaming lesson from Howard Dean.
But it would increase Trump’s standing in the polls.

His abilities have been so grossly exaggerated by fanboys and sycophants, that he cant ever live up to their bragging! Where was all of this debating genius the past 6 months? All of this unrivaled political savvy?
They are now reduced to sitting here complaining that Rubio and Trump are calling him a “liar”?
OK? So what? He can deal with it like a person in a political war, or he can go home.

TPA Teddy does seem to be cornering the market on bad advice these days. He’s been apologizing left and right, firing his comm director, etc. Cruz has cratered.
Bingo. This is a fool’s errand for Ted. He cannot win.
