Cruz, Ryan urge Senate to pass Fast Track
Washington Examiner ^ | 4/22/15 | SEAN HIGGINS

Posted on 02/27/2016 4:20:58 PM PST by gg188

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., penned a joint op-ed for the Wall Street Journal Wednesday calling on Congress to pass Trade Promotion Authority legislation. The two conservative lawmakers argue that the legislation, also known as "Fast Track," is urgently needed to strengthen the U.S.'s ability to negotiate future trade deals.

Good one gg188. You knew no one would read the article or notice the date from April 2015. FAST TRACK...

REMEMBER CRUZ CALLED MCCONNELL A LIAR? This was what started it. They wrote the bill but McC went behind Cruz’s back.

Yes, Cruz had nice theatrics AFTER he cut a deal with McConnell he would not oppose any incumbent Senators in 2014 primaries in exchange for a VC position on the NRSC and approval to run for President. He ctrusted McConnell when voting for closure on the TPA and the Corker amendment.

Cruz sold old his supporters for worthless promises. They co-opted him in their own mischievous way.

Ted Cruz has been at least FIGHTING to protect them...
Unlike the phony Trump, who actively supported sucking their brains out.

Are you THAT beholden to the liberal hack you cannot see the difference?!?

No, career politician Ted Cruz has been self servingly CAMPAIGNING. He’s using those babies as a political footballs knowing full well this rotten Congress will never defund PP. Sorry, you’ve been duped.

Yes. One of the things that troubles me about Trump is that it seems like he’s saying he would just be better at the backroom dealing. There’s no way that backroom dealing is good for anybody, if you’ve got lying scum trying to protect their turf - or if they are compromised and/or threatened. There is something going on, that the R leadership is bending over backwards to give Obama everything he wants. It involves lying to their supposed “teammates”, and we the people need to know WHY the leadership is doing this. Cruz was right to bring this up even though he is being stabbed in the back for it now. Trump says you can’t stand on the Senate floor and call your leaders liars, and yet he frames himself as the person who is anti-establishment. The man who truly sought to expose how he and his colleagues were abused by the leadership - endangering their constituents - is the man hated for the black eyes he still bears on his body because of the battle. It doesn’t make sense to me.

I don’t want to get into a slam-fest between candidates. What I want is for people who are on the side of the USA to act as if we are all on the side of the USA. The man who exposed the lies of the GOPe should NOT be slammed and hated for it by those who claim to be sick and tired of the GOPe. And a candidate who runs as anti-establishment should not be slamming him for not “playing along to get along” with the corrupt GOPe and for, instead, actually exposing the lies of the GOPe. Yes, everybody makes mistakes, and when trying to campaign people say stupid stuff. But it really needs to end, all the way around. Both Cruz and Rubio have had to deal with lies from the R leaders, and it would help us all if we pinned at least some of the blame where it really belongs.

Trump couldn’t do much about any of that because he was truly an outsider, but if he wants to be thought of as an outsider he shouldn’t be saying he’d never call the GOPe rats liars publicly and would just make better backroom deals. And he and his supporters should stop slamming Cruz for actually doing battle with the enemies we ALL want to smack in the back of the head, for how they’ve sold America down the river.

No, you do your homework. The McConnell “lie” has ZERO to with Cruz campaigning for TPA. The “lie” was old fashioned beltway CYA after Cruz realized he could no longer get away with pimping Obama’s trade agenda.

thanks for the links. Good reading. Cruz was almost suckered into voting for TPA but realized the process was too corrupt to support it and pulled his support.

Yes trump criticized Cruz for calling out McConnell as a liar for how Mcconnell pushed thru Fast Track.

Instead of standing with Cruz on his criticism of the Senate Repubs on the TPA trump trashed Cruz!!!

They will believe what they want to believe. No matter what!!

Trump is a great salesman!! No substance to speak of at the rallies. Just things the people with ‘itching ears’ want to hear.

If we lose the Constitution and rule of law, we will see God’s judgement sooner rather than later.

If Abel’s blood, just one man, cried out to God, think of the millions of voices calling out to God now!!! America has some reaping coming our way!

Cruz gets no credit for standing in opposition to ‘obumercare’. He only is an obstructionist and cannot make ‘deals’.

Concerned with fallout if the one who is not to be vetted fails to perform to expectations.

You knew no one would read the article or notice the date from April 2015.

I noticed the date and I knew what this was: a typically dishonest Trumpster invented "issue." Here is what I said:

Just because he believed that Congress would never approve anything negotiated by Commander Xero and wants the next President to have that authority is not a sellout. It may be an error in judgment (considering Ryan and McConnell) but it is not prima faceae evidence of his intent. Note I mentioned McConnell. I regarded trusting McConnell as an "error in judgment." I stand by that contention, as I still think it was. One of the reasons I have not come out for Cruz is that he has not specifically repented that trust as a lack of judgment. McConnell had earned that lack of trust goodness knows how many times since Cruz was elected.

then 60 days for public review before an up or down vote.

Actually it is a down vote only because they passed it sight unseen. In their wisdom they have managed to reverse the procedure while claiming to be agains it.

It requires a 67 vote margin to actually defeat it because Obama will veto any attempt to dismiss it.

Just because he believed that Congress would never approve anything negotiated by Commander Xero and wants the next President to have that authority is not a sellout.

The intent was to give the president absolute autonomy to negotiate the trade "treaty" that would normally require a two thirds vote of approval to become law. Now they must have a veto proof margin to kill it.

This was an insane deal, it gave Obama carte blanche to make the deal and the republicans in the Senate can't stop it.

You're the one supporting a non-conservative, power-crazed, lunatic, ego maniac, phony like Trump. If anyone doesn't belong on this conservative site it's misguided fools like you. Problem is, you're too dumb to know it.

Cruz is demonic?

Hardly.

No, Trump is the evil one. He hired those evil Polish immigrants who were [God forbid!] Christians who hated communism.

Ask any democrat — bound to be evil when you’re a Christian who flees from the Soviet Bloc and would rather work in construction than join a street gang.

So what if that was 30 years ago. It was EVIL, EVIL, EVIL.

I agree with Carry Okie.

It’s dishonest to bury the date of old news.

Between you and me, Carry Okie really suspicious of Trump. Don’t let him know I said that.

Oh wait, a public post.

It makes us Trump supporters look bad.

I think you mean well, but we can support Trump more effectively if we avoid cheap tricks.

‘When it comes to trade, there is also no difference between Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.’

Sanders wants to seize foreign oil fields? Glad to hear it!

I think there’s a very, very different mindset between Sanders and Trump when it comes to trade.
