On MSNBC's coverage of the South Carolina primary this evening, Chuck Todd actually said that if Hillary Clinton is charged with a misdemeanor concerning her emails, it will have "no impact" on her presidential prospects.

He’s right. The impact would be if it was a felony. If it’s downtalked to a misdemeanor like jay-walking, her backers and the MSM will call it a technical problem.

I never thought of intentionally sending Top Secret information in an unclassified email as a misdemeanor. I always thought of it as a career-ending felony that could get me 10 years of fresh air and exercise doing hard labor in Leavenworth.
What Hillary did is more severe than what Jonathan Pollard did, where only Israel got our information, and Pollard spent 30 years in prison for his crimes.

A misdemeanor is not simply a “violation.” It is a crime, punishable by up to a year in prison. I think being charged with a crime, misdemeanor or felony, would be devastating to Hillary’s chances.
