Here it is: One of the main reasons Romney lost is he refused to campaign to the "lower 47%". He said they (we) are a waste of his time.
What was Romney's speech? It was a disdainful, arrogant lecture to the "lower 47%" proclaiming that the elite will use any dishonest means imaginable to keep their grip on power. Four years ago, Romney ignored voters who wanted significant change. This year he threatens us.
Romney’s anti-Trump push will have the opposite effect. More like a get out the Trump vote campaign.
Well, that would the Trump supporters and the anti-GOPe. And why is he not afraid to offend them? Because he thinks their vote is the property of the GOPe and they are wielding it from ignorance. Don't worry about attacking the voters' choice, they aren't going anywhere. It's the arrogant high-handedness of those-who-know-better and it comes off as patrician as the New Yorker magazine's Eustace Tilley.
And the interesting thing is Trump easily appeals to the "lower 47%." Those are the people he is bringing into the party, blue coller disenchanted independants and some democrats.
I agree.
To be fair, Romney was not his own man. He was being bankrolled by the people who held that view about the 47%. He had no choice to pander to those who bankrolled him ... if he wanted to be President.
That’s not to excuse the system that is in place. But that system had got to go.
