You mean re-electing Obama was the best thing for the country at the time? I shudder at how bad the alternative must have been.

The author's point was that the RNC should respect its voters and nominate Trump or Cruz. In 2008 and 2012 the DNC did respect its voters and nominated Obama. Continuing the principle that the voter (customer) is always right, if the general election winner is prevented from assuming office by some shenanigans by Congress or the Courts, then this principle will be violated. Instead, voters elected Obama twice and their expressed will was honored.
