People have been brining this up since last summer. The apparel business is almost mandatory to be oversees. Our labor rates are just not competitive. I don’t blame Trump one bit. The only argument one could make is that the Trump shirts and ties are marked up quite bit and could potentially handle some higher labor cost. It would still hit the profit margin pretty hard, so I don’t think there’s much of an argument there.
there’s a con man around, but it ain’t Trump
“More than 90 percent of clothes and shoes sold in America are made elsewhere, according to Jack Plunkett of Houston-based Plunkett Research.”
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2013/02/made-in-america/index.htm
“Where is your clothing made?”
Well, I doubt that there is ANY clothing made in the US anymore! Nor shoes either.
If the currency rules help us get cheap products, then we should try to pass a law to make those rules permanent, not to reverse them.
Oh, Pleeze!
Apple’s CEO is not running for President or complaining about outsourcing.
“Trump is leading by example,”
By criticizing businesses who go over seas, when his own companies do the same thing?
Poor Teddy Bares. All mud, all the time!
Here's another pic of a Teddy Bare rally!
Trump doesn’t manufacture anything. He sells the “Trump” brand to others who want to peddle crappy, nuevo riche lifestyle products.
“He’s running for President doofus, what more do you want?”
He’s running his mouth, but his actual business practices are the same as those he criticizes.
2.The Iranian's with their newly acquired 150 billion dollars -can simply buy nukes now!
3. Mullah Obama has already begun flying in his preset goal of 170,000 Islamic Muslim rapefugees! How many of these 170,000 will eventually beat, rape and murder our fellow Americans. How many of these 170,000 will arrive here - and eventually pull out machine guns on us.
4. The illegal mexican horde currently here and the illegal mexican hordes always enroute here -taking millions upon millions of jobs from Americans (white, black and hispanic Americans), swarming our schools, bankrupting our hospitals, raping and murdering fellow Americans. [and all the very slimy democrat politicians welcoming them -as potential democrat voters]
I'm voting for Trump!
Trump’s lies and hypocrisy are “old news”.
The reason people keep bringing this up is not because it is a bad business decision for Trump to have the clothes made overseas. It is because Trump has based a significant part of his campaign on promising to punish companies that have made the same economic decision HE has made. Why are you okay with Trump having his clothing line made overseas, but not okay with Ford making cars in Mexico, or Apple making computers in China?
“Like I said in anther post, start looking at the labels in your clothes.”
but I’m not the one criticizing other businesses while my business is doing the same thing.
“This is the guy who says he wants to bring business back to America.”
Because he’s playing by the rules that the current government has fostered just makes him a good businessman. As President, he will have the opportunity to change all of it. I’m willing to give him the chance because none of the rest of them give a fig about foreign made goods and our balance of trade because they are being financed by those who like everything just the way it is.
This is just stupid.
So his clothes are made in China. Jeepers. I would guess even amongst Freepers, the cream of the conservative crop, that less than 1% make purchases that are entirely Made in the USA.
This is a CNN article. It is trivial
This is a CNN article meant to divide republicans against republicans.
It doesn’t mention any of Trump’s real drawbacks that would unite republicans against a democrat. Like
- Trump’s support for the Kelo decision
- Trump’s belief that Planned Parenthood does good things
- Trump’s believe that “W” was responsible for 9-11
Don’t fall for the bait.
“trump has already said they were made in China. This is old news - he lends his name to them. However, his hats and t-shirts for his campaign are Made in the USA. He is leading by example.”
So what he actually profits on is made over seas. Thanks for that info..
It’s going to be interesting to see the convoluted ways trumpers figure out to defend this.
We have Hickey-Freeman here. Very old company. Had to get Schumer involved to get some kind of deal.NYS....we taxpayers probably had to dish out some money...
Who cares if Trump’s clothes are made in China.
If you strip him of his clothes, you’ll find that Trump was made in the USA. Whereas the other two candidates were made in Canada and Cuba. yeah, imports.
