Okay, what are they using for pain? Acupuncture?

I am sure this will only apply to ordinary peons like us. The scum in DC will never have to suffer through pain.

Another fake war - war on drugs. My mother is 80 years old. If she wants to take a Percocet - let her damn it. I have a elderly neighbor who has chronic pain, rheumatoid etc. Takes some type of narcotic. I don’t remember which one. Has to beg or can’t get them filled til the day she runs out. Doesn’t matter if there is a foot of snow and she doesn’t drive.

I imagine there will be a lot of uncomfortable people in that hospital.

This is stupid. I have been on many of those painkillers over the years and was always able to stop taking them.

A bottle of whiskey and a piece of wood to chomp down on is all you need.

..many people simply cannot tolerate NSAIDs. Some form of opioid like Tylenol 3 is the only alternative for pain management...

"As a matter of fact, and I’m not ashamed to say it, he was born addicted to drugs,” she said, adding that her son is now using pills.

There are some things that you should absolutely be ashamed of. This is one of those.

"In 2012, there were enough opioid prescriptions issued - nearly 260 million - to give every man, woman and child in the country their own bottle of pills", said U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ).

Bob needs to put down his drink, move away from the teen prostitutes and pay attention. The US population is more than 320 million now.

As I read the headline, that means that if someone is brought to their ER with the crushing pain of an MI, or 3rd degree burns, they will give him -- a Tylenol?

This should be a great hospital ER to avoid at all costs!

A long long time ago, in a Hee Haw episode far, far away ...

Patient: "Doc? It hurts when I do this!" (flexing arm)

Doctor (Archie Campbell) "well don't DO that!!" (hits arm with chrome reflex-hammer)

Perhaps if they didn’t allow 15 different doctors to write prescriptions for pain meds for the same patient.

Another complication of opioids is that it shuts down your digestive system gives you constipation and over the long term other serious health problems, beyond addiction.

I’ve had chronic pain in my feet since two surgeries to take the fascia out of both feet, nerves torn left and right. I have taken Oxycontin 20 mg for 12 years. I am NOT addicted. I hate them because of the opiate bowel thing. Some days I don’t take any. Some days I use two. Once in the morning and once at night. I only take them when the pain level is near 8. Once it reaches 10 it takes a lot longer for it to calm down. I have not increased my dosage. (20mg is fine)

Truth be told a friend brought me a joint and it does give me relief from the pain. I live in Florida. From what I understand this state was a pill mill sanctuary a few years ago. Now there are big signs in doctors offices. “we do not prescribe opioids”. This last time I went for my refill he put me on Gabapentin which is supposed to reduce pain in DIABETICS. My blood sugar is fine, thank you. Gave me a months supply of Oxy20 as well. Gabapentin caused blurry vision and wife said I was acting delusional. Stopped taking it.

It has been an interesting two years here. Med MJ on ballot.

The CIA and DEA are rejoicing. They will have new targets of prosecution and more revenue from the drug importation protection racket.

As legitimate pain patients find fewer legal options to control their pain, they will inevitably turn to the streets and find whatever “treatment” is available.

No matter. Most people don’t have severe pain so they can shrug it off and sanctimoniously exhort those with chronic pain to suck it up and deal with it.

hospital emergency room

It would appear this is in regard to hospital emergency rooms only? I can see this as common sense. Still available through a doctor.

I was at the dr’s office yesterday and heard the receptionist on the phone explaining that they no longer prescribe opioids. After the call the nurses were talking about the number of people who are addicted and call them, the dentist, or go to emergency rooms trying to get their fix.

I can see why an emergency room would do this so they don't have to deal with addicts.

Mean while the makers of cheap Mexican Tar Heroin are smiling. More potential customers.

God only knows what they are mixing with it.

Demetria Washington said she started on pills before moving on to heroin. "Then I couldn’t get to it no more and a girlfriend of mine was like well you could just try heroin. And I tried it and I liked it."

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't think the pills were the initial problem here.

It looks as if the PC medical community doesn’t feel your pain anymore.

Decades ago I read a science fiction novel, possibly by Heinlein, where only the elites received modern drugs for medical treatment. Common people had to content themselves with aspirin.

Seems as if we are almost there.

I am a pharmacist. This is stupid. When I was an organ doner I took huge doses of morphine for pain. I got off the morphine quickly once the pain was less. I do not have an addictive personality and I did not like the way it made me feel.
