Cruz Hater Karl Rove: Let's Go With a Fresh Face at the Convention!
PJ Media ^ | 04-01-2016 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 04/01/2016 5:36:15 AM PDT by Michael van der Galien

Karl Rove, establishment hack extraordinaire, has cobbled up a new plan to deny a proven conservative (read: Ted Cruz) the nomination. In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, the former George W. Bush strategist also known as The Architect explained what he and his fellow establishmentarians have in mind:

"I think, though, that let’s say this. If we have somebody who we think has, has been battle tested, and has strong conservative principles and the ability to articulate them, and they are nominated at this convention, there will be a lot of acrimony from the people who were seeking the nomination. But if it’s somebody who has, you know, has those convictions that they can express in a compelling way, we could come out of the convention in relatively strong position, because we do have, you know, look.

"Donald Trump excites a lot of enthusiasm. But he also excites a lot of anger within the Republican Party and outside of the Republican Party. And a fresh face might be the thing that could give us a chance to turn this election and win in November against Hillary."

Rove rightfully pointed out that Trump's negatives are through the roof, which means it'll be virtually impossible for him to win a general election, but he has no good reason to argue against nominating the Ted Cruz, who's second in delegate count and who seems to be on track to win in Wisconsin, which would provide his campaign with a major boost.

The only argument Rove has is that Cruz is sometimes winning against Hillary Clinton and sometimes losing...

“If Trump gets the 1237, he will be the only one with 8 states won w/ majority of delegates and the Repubs will not change those rules before or at the convention....”

Don’t bet on that. We will see EVERY dirty trick in the book, and then some more. The Rovians will do WHATEVER is necessary to preserve their power over us unwashed masses.

Trump and Cruz need to get together, to present the convention with a unified front, and an overwhelming majority of the delegates. Keep the Rovians’ heads underwater from the start, and don’t let them up.

This reminds me of the man or woman who commits adultery and their marriage is destroyed. Afterward, the one with whom the adultery is committed is shocked that he or she was not chosen as the next spouse. The nominee will either be Trump, Kasich, or some else besides Cruz.

The irony is that most Republican voters think that of him as well.

Fred Thompson was a blocker for McCain, he didn’t need to be stopped, he was in on the act. His job was to dilute the conservative vote in early states, not allowing them to rally around the real conservative, Duncan Hunter.

According to current rules, the candidate must have won eight primary states in order to be nominated. So unless the rules are changed (wink, wink), only Cruz and Trump have a shot at the nomination.

Well, I have to give the Donald some credit. He ocassionally marries the ones he commits adultery with.

I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Ted Cruz and his bride are PROVEN One Worlders. That has been Heidi’s main task the last several years; while retaining her gig on the Board at Goldman Sachs. Look up NAU. North American Union.

Trump has hired Manafort, the best in the business, to whip the vote [...]Trump knows what they’re planning to do, and his people are laying the groundwork.

I'm a Cruz supporter, might become a Cruz delegate or alternate, and suspected as much. If Trump comes in with 1,237, it's his. If he comes up with fewer and manages to sway enough soft delegates to win, it's his. If Trump can sway more folks than he loses on the second ballot, it's his. If the second ballot has Paul Ryan or Mike Ditka or George H.W. Bush foisted on us as a new face, Cruz people like me join the enraged Trump people.

Rule or ruin works both ways.

ABCorT would indicate they are not really interested in winning and would more than happy to let Hillary have the WH.

They may think they can contain her because they have the Senate and House. That could be poor planning. If they relinquish the White House, they will likely also lose the Senate in November and lose the House by 2018.

I agree partially with Piglet, to the extent that the Republican trash-talking wrestlers no longer seem viable, and the Democrat’s candidates are felonious socialists. I can’t imagine any of the top four as President. The Dem’s should nominate Kasich, who could be their best President in living memory.

But just what “fresh faces” do the Republicans have who could pick up the pieces, earn the support of the furious disappointed supporters of the spurned candidates, and mount a successful campaign in a few short months, while others have been at it for years? Which of his clients does Karl have in mind? A “fresh face” will tend to be relatively unknown, inexperienced, completely at the mercy of the party apparatus; fresh face would be fresh meat devoured by the media attack machine and whatever scum the Democrats run with. The RNC has it’s wish — they’ve made it almost impossible for a Republican to win.

Just to clarify lest one misunderstand,
the adultery I’m referring to with respect to Cruz is spiritual and political.
Whether he committed adultery in his marriage remains to be seen.
I already know Trump is a publican and a sinner.

He is the GOPe darling until he stops Trump from getting the nomination and ushers in a brokered convention.

Then say hello to Paul Ryan and/or Jeb Bush and/or Mitt Romney.

You can take that to the bank.

Governor Scott Walker said a week ago let the cat out of the bag by saying the nominee is not currently running for President
Trump either gets 1237 or Romney, Bush, Walker, Ryan or who knows will run against Hillary
They know Cruz can't even carry the South, never won a county in Florida, Virginia and Ohio.

^^ This!

Add Pat Caddell to the "the nominee won't be anyone currently running" list. How does anyone think that Cruz will win anything when he can't beat Trump on the first vote? Common sense would seem to dictate that we don't put up a candidate that came in second to win the race.

Dear GOPe, don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining!

Cruz was blessed with the endorsement of Scott and was rewarded by Cruz by starting a fund raiser for his unpaid campaign costs. ( Even Snopes couldn't state, unequivocally, that this image was false)
