Cruz Hater Karl Rove: Let's Go With a Fresh Face at the Convention!
PJ Media ^ | 04-01-2016 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 04/01/2016 5:36:15 AM PDT by Michael van der Galien

Karl Rove, establishment hack extraordinaire, has cobbled up a new plan to deny a proven conservative (read: Ted Cruz) the nomination. In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, the former George W. Bush strategist also known as The Architect explained what he and his fellow establishmentarians have in mind:

"I think, though, that let’s say this. If we have somebody who we think has, has been battle tested, and has strong conservative principles and the ability to articulate them, and they are nominated at this convention, there will be a lot of acrimony from the people who were seeking the nomination. But if it’s somebody who has, you know, has those convictions that they can express in a compelling way, we could come out of the convention in relatively strong position, because we do have, you know, look.

"Donald Trump excites a lot of enthusiasm. But he also excites a lot of anger within the Republican Party and outside of the Republican Party. And a fresh face might be the thing that could give us a chance to turn this election and win in November against Hillary."

Rove rightfully pointed out that Trump's negatives are through the roof, which means it'll be virtually impossible for him to win a general election, but he has no good reason to argue against nominating the Ted Cruz, who's second in delegate count and who seems to be on track to win in Wisconsin, which would provide his campaign with a major boost.

The only argument Rove has is that Cruz is sometimes winning against Hillary Clinton and sometimes losing...

You are going to get an old fresh face folks.

I've been saying it for a while, conservatives need to stop referring to GOPe types as RINOs. The party isn't conservative and the establishment types ARE the real GOP now. It's the conservatives that are "in name only" at this point. The sooner we all get our arms around the fact that establishment liberal types aren't rogues in the party but rather ARE the party now the sooner we can all decide what we want to do about it.

Cruz delegates need to present a resolution that Rove is a traitor and that Rove be thrown out of the Republican party. It’s way past time to clean house.

“If Trump gets the 1237, he will be the only one with 8 states won w/ majority of delegates and the Repubs will not change those rules before or at the convention....”

*******

Rule 40 applied to the 2012 convention, it, and other rules, will be changed/added as needed to support the GOPe.

Agreed. Cruz is just being used to stop Donald. If they do (and they may indeed), they Cruz will be tossed out like the leftovers at a buffet.

True, but the GOP committed suicide when it ran Bob Dole for president in 1996, and later McCain.
Some say the GOP demonstrated suicidal tendencies in it’s opposition to running Ronald Reagan in 1980.

I cannot for the life of me understand the establishment GOP lack of principles which willfully consigns them to playing second fiddle even when in power.

Democrats are evil
Republicans are stupid

RE: “Republican Party - an extinct American political party which was founded by the Abolitionist Movement in the 1850’s, and played a critical role in American political life until committing suicide in 2016.”

The exceedingly ugly, fat Carl Rove is the most despicable creature in the GOPe.

He talks as though he’s a big cheese in the GOPe, but he has no authority at all.

No Trump or no Cruz (if he gets enough delegates) = no vote for ANY Republican from me this cycle.

If the RINO elite chooses a candidate after 60-80% of GOP voters rejected them, they don’t deserve votes from the Reagan/conservative wing of the party.

Even if it means the Democrats win.

Winning isn’t exactly their top priority.

That’s so Trumpian, after all.

At that time, if things could be smoothed over, Trump and Cruz should get together and run as write ins.

And campaign for any candidate other than establishment for congressional seats.

Blow the whole GD thing up in their faces.

The guy who flamed out in the first month doesn’t have a very good case.

My money is on Ryan. Maybe with Kasich at his side, even though they are both from the Midwest.

Ya and guess what. They do that and they aint even going to win a state in the general if Trump and Cruz run as third party.

Let er go to the socialists. Civil war happens after that and the GD GOP can go to hell.

The GOP/RNC supporters have been playing “Weekend At Bernie’s” LONG before 2016.

I see it makes you no difference to you that Donald says one thing but puts his money in the democratic party.
