Didn’t read the whole thing, but if the premise followed through with it doesn’t matter if Trump wins or not, his policies are now the mainstream, that is just foolish.

Dismiss my comments if he didn’t go there.

I want to stress that Trump has brought up ideas only he can implement. He has the know how and the gravitas.

None of the other pretenders will get done what he will.

We shouldn’t kid our selves about that.

Trump will reduce the national debt.

No other person will to the extent he will.

Actually the GOPe does NOT want to win. They sold out for a Hillary presidency.

The hubris is Cruz trying to steal the nom from millions of Trump voters while calling his delegate confidence trick “the will of the voters”.

As Pat Buchanan points out, we do need to do our best to get along with people who have been supporting to Cruz. We must try to convince them that even if they do not like Trump that he will lead the country in a way that is vastly superior to what would happen if Hillary was elected.

One of the first arguments that I get when discussing the election with Cruz people is that Cruz is somehow going to get the nomination in a brokered convention. They realize that Cruz will have no mathematical way to get the majority of delegates before the election. But they are very excited about the unlikely prospect that the GOP establishment will give it to them at the convention. By the convention Trump will have several million more votes than Cruz and hundreds more delegates. But Cruz supporters believe that there is nothing wrong with disenfranchising millions of voters by trying to install Cruz people as Trump's pledged delegates.

How is it that the people claiming to be the most moral, Christian, conservative people can advocate this type of thing? What is wrong with their moral compass? It goes right along with their willingness to overlook all of the sneaky stuff that the Cruz campaign has pulled this cycle. They also think that it is alright when Cruz deliberately misleads people. How do you win over people who think that this offensive behavior is alright?

Did you notice how Cruz won his Senate race? Dewhurst beat him by 10 points in the primary, but Dewhurst only won with about 45% of the vote. By law, a run-off election was held, where Dewhurst stayed about the same in percent, but Cruz beat him by 10 points.

We’re seeing the same principle in action at the convention. When no candidate gets 50%, the election is not over. The delegates hold another vote and continue to do so until one candidate receives 50% of their support.

This is all based on the electoral college system defined by the Constitution. If no candidate gets 270 electoral votes, the presidency is decided by the states. You don’t live in a country where a plurality of the popular vote decides election, nor should we.

In a perfect world, I would prefer a national run-off primary between Trump and Cruz, but the delegate system is a fair process, and also acts as a counterweight against “open” primaries where people not even in the Republican party get to vote on our candidates.

Cruz won that election partly by concealing his Canadian citizenship and getting loans from Goldman Sachs and Citibank while lying to the voters about how he really financed his campaign. Cruz still refuses to disclose the terms of those loans to the FEC as he is required to do. There ia also the fact that lot of the new republican voters that Trump is bringing in this election who will not vote for Cruz, Ryan or any other GOPe hack.

If Trump wins the establishment loses. They win with Clinton, Cruz or Ryan.

Trump is merely a voice for those continuously betrayed by DC.

The GOP-e is playing a reckless political game in overtly scheming against the constituency.

Should Trump technically win the delegates, but the GOP-e deny his nomination, the constituency must vote the GOP-e out of power.

I’m 35 years a solid Republican voter. But I’m done. Screw the GOP-e and its beltway minions.

That’s the same reason I’m voting for Trump in PA when it’s our turn..and many other reasons why I think he is the best choice for America at this time.

This will be my first primary vote ever too, Trump has brought that kind of motivation to millions like me.

That’s actually pretty awesome and i’m glad for you!

I was planning on voting since I was a member of FR for the first time during a primary.

47. First time. Will pull lever for Trump. Doesn’t look like he’ll much need it in NY, but I sent in the paperwork so i’ll do it :)

Someone told me that the primaries would be contentious and I PROMISED that I would never get down and dirty.

Broke that one and apologize to all!

I get where you’re coming from, believe me, at first I was cringing at some of the things I was hearing Trump say on tv. I was in between shock and humor because some of the things he was saying we’re funny, like saying how Jeb is low energy right in the one debate.

There is so much passion in the voters for this election, and that also creates a rift between Trump and Cruz supporters on this website I’ve noticed. It’s really anger directed at the political elite for destroying and pillaging the country for so long though.

Jedi, thank you for the explanation of how Cruz won his senate seat.

I do not feel that what the Cruz campaign is currently attempting is moral in any sense of the word. They are attempting to place Cruz supporters in Trump delegate spots. That is one of the sleaziest election tactics that I have ever heard of. It is starting to make the news and will only further the perception that Cruz is a cheater.

I understand why he is doing it. After the New York primary it is most likely that Cruz will have no mathematical possibility of getting a majority of delegates before the convention. By the convention all indications are that Trump will have several million more people who have voted for him and hundreds more delegates.

Attempting to disenfranchise several million voters may actually be one way of winning the primary. It may seem like a good idea to someone with blind ambition. But most people will judge this as being a very dishonest tactic. Outside of Cruz supporters on Free Republic I have found no one who thinks this reflects well on Cruz.

Approximately half the people in the country are still waiting to vote. If the Cruz campaign was going to attempt such a thing they should have tried to keep it more quiet than they have. This is not going to fly well. Trump has probably learned something during the past couple of weeks. My guess is he will be a better candidate because of the challenges he has faced.

Cruz on the other hand is still facing a huge perception problem and I am not convinced that the fawning treatment he is currently getting from Ryan, Romney, Graham and company is going to help him straighten up and fly right. His comments about possibly backing his car over Trump and preferring Obama over Trump were particularly disturbing. He hasn’t bothered to walk those comments back even after Trump said he was sorry about the Heidi retweet.

sCruz will not be the nominee. He’ll sulk back to Tejas to his disturbed ambitious globalist sidekick and nanny raised brood. His future looks bleak. Maybe Stabby the Clown can bring him comfort, you know, priesthood rising and all ...

>>I’m sick to death of “decorum” (phony political politeness)

Decorum is fine when it is a two way street. It has not been for a long time due to Political Correctness.

As one example, you must listen to their #BLM rants, while you are a RACIST! if you point out that all lives matter, and that Blacks have a much bigger issue with Blacks murdering other Blacks at rates far in excess of that for Whites murdering Whites, and why aren’t we talking about that?

There are plenty of other examples of similar subjects.

You can’t be expected to observe decorum when someone is calling you a racist to avoid discussion of important issues.

Going with the theme of what Trump has wrought - we all witnessed the way he was the first to introduce major rudeness and incivility into the debates.
