It looks as though I am not allowed to have an opinion on this forum.

You can have an opinion all you want.

Just don't be surprised when you get mocked for clutching the pearls.

Cruz asked us to buy Chinese diapers in one of the first debates - I can I vote for that man? Never.

The gop is 2 tweets from destruction. I still prefer a Trump victory, but destroying the gop is a very nice second prize. Either way, our side wins in the long run.

All because I made a comment about Trump being rude.

Can you imagine if I had said just a little more?

It’s not a disenfranchisement if the majority prefers Cruz to Trump, including the ones who voted for Cruz or who voted for other candidates. Sometimes we find that out in a run-off election, which is to the point since Cruz won his Senate primary in a run-off after losing by a wide margin to Dewhurst in the first vote. The key is the voters who voted for neither one of the two seemed to prefer Cruz to Dewhurst in the run-off. In the case of the Electoral College or the conventions, it’s the delegates who hold that second vote (or more).

Trump currently has just under 40% of the GOP popular vote. Neither you nor I know if the other 60% would prefer Cruz to Trump. Cruz and Rubio combined alone have over a million votes more than Trump. Both vehemently opposed him. So it stands to reason, there are more voters out there who would prefer either one of them than ones who would prefer Trump. If Cruz and Rubio form a unity ticket at the convention and beat Trump on the ballot, the majority of actual voters probably prefers that to nominating Trump.

As for as morality, again, the delegates are only bound by law on the FIRST vote in most states. They HAVE to change who they support on the second or the convention is deadlocked. The candidates HAVE to and always have in this situation tried to sway the delegates to change their vote to their side through all legal means.

There are lots of Cruz supporters on Twitter who support his strategy, I can assure you of that.

Trump did not say he was sorry over the Heidi tweet, he just said he wouldn’t do it again if he could do it over. His comment sounded like that decision was to avoid the political blowback, not to make Cruz feel better. Cruz said Obama and Trump were similar in some ways, as far as I know he didn’t say he preferred Obama. And Cruz has also not ruled out voting for Trump in the general, despite media reports. Megyn Kelly called him on that, by saying his answer to that question was not direct or definitive.

Just because the other ‘kids’ are doing it, doesn’t mean YOU have to. That’s what being an adult is all about. No excuses. Don’t blame Trump or anybody else.

Jedi, I think that I have may have said it to you before. I like that we have different points of view, and can discuss this here. But your perception or my perception means little. It is the perception of the 50% of those still waiting to vote that matters. Trump won with nearly twice as many votes as Cruz in Arizona, when people find that the delegates chosen are all Cruz operatives, how do you think that is going to play out?

Do you think that people will think that this was a “smart move” by Cruz? I think that playing into the narrative that Cruz is a liar and a cheat was a very bad move. It was a move that will most likely hurt Cruz and help Trump. You are free to perceive this anyway that you would like, but I do not believe most people will judge this the same way that you do.

You make absolutely no sense.

I mention the obvious - that Trump is rude and I am accused of not being an adult?

You trumpsters really need to engage your brains.

TRUMP IS RUDE

Sure, perception matters. But Trump won under 50% of the vote in Arizona, yet walks away with all the delegates under winner-take-all rules. Is that fair? That’s also following the rules but it hardly can be called fair.

It also shows you that half the state might be against Trump. How can Trump expect more than half the delegates to be loyal to him on the second ballot when half the state didn’t vote for him? Delegates becoming unbound after the first ballot adds fairness that isn’t there with a winner-take-all rule.

It’s true that contested conventions don’t often result in general election winners, but that’s more a sign of a deep split in the party that year, or a lack of a widely popular nominee, than the actions at the convention itself. The polls seem to show there are as many if not more Republicans who will be unhappy with Trump as the nominee as they would be with Cruz or someone else. The Democrats don’t have that strong a split...the Bernie and Hillary people don’t hate each other’s candidates that much. So they have that advantage against us no matter who we nominate or when we nominate them. We’re stuck with that now.

One thing I can tell you, if Trump is the nominee, I’m sure Cruz will endorse and support him. He has chosen careful language to never rule out supporting Trump, endorsing him, voting for him or being his V.P. While Trump has hit Cruz with some baser insults, Trump has also remained totally open to uniting with either Cruz or the establishment. His heart is not in the insults, he just only knows how to fight that way, New York street fight style.

I believe Cruz and Trump will endorse and support the other one when he emerges as the nominee, even if they don’t form one ticket. Trump might run a 3rd party write-in campaign if something truly unfair at the convention happens, but if he loses in a traditional vote of the delegates, he’ll accept that as fair treatment, support the nominee, speak at the convention, etc. He knows running 3rd party will be a losing proposition and he has nothing to gain from it.
