Stop being nice to leftist intimidators

As we watch our nation becoming more and more divided, one troubling trend is accelerating with amazing speed: the increase in “-ist” accusations.

If you’re white, you’re automatically a racist. If you’re a man, you’re automatically sexist. If you’re a boss, you’re automatically an oppressive capitalist. If you live in Idaho, you’re automatically a white supremacist (trust me on this). And on and on it goes. Judgmental. Hater. Intolerant. Phobic. Did I miss anything?

Accusations of “-ist” became widespread because they were so effective. Ever try to engage a liberal in conversation? The moment – the moment! – you say something they don’t like, the accusations start. “Hater!”

How do you argue against that? Most people immediately move into defensive mode, sputtering denials the other party soaks up like water, causing their baseless accusations to bloom and flourish. “Hater! Racist pig! Sexist jerk!” And on and on it goes.

Well I think there is — I think your concern is correct.

I feel more like a warning watchman now, than anything else. I’ve even been getting warnings in dreams now. There’s a worse enemy out there than “liberals” and some people have artistically portrayed it as wearing red tights, but in any case the bible warned us about it in Ephesians 6.

>> But now people here are using the language of the left to attack each other.

First, there’s the attack, then the response follows.

Many of us were having a good ol’ time supporting Trump, but unfortunately petulant paternalism reared its ugly head and demanded a fight.

I think we should all take lessons from this. We can’t get on as high a horse as we think we can.

And the Cruz situation is not an easy one to deal with. He’s the “obviously more Christian” of the front runners, and if by that we mean more inclined to talk about God, we’d be right. Who has done the more godly job with what he has, could be a different question.

I also don’t want to be “led religiously” by an earthly “ruler.” The stories of such things being muffed badly and bringing disrepute on the Cross are legion. The church could have been easily pardoned 1700 years ago, but less so now, for being ignorant about this and getting involved in it. I have more confidence that Donald would want to leave me alone in the religious sphere. Some friends can be worse than enemies.

I did not name any candidate.

Sadly in this case I actually have seen it from both Trump and Cruz supporters.

The Kasich supporters I can't speak of because I have yet to meet one here. I am sure they must exist. Or not.

There tends to be a lot of black-and-white painting and the direction it takes depends on the favorite of the painter.

I try to avoid this regarding Cruz, because I respect Christ and what He has done and want to avoid bringing disrepute upon Him and that. And yet, one of the biggest modern Christian sins is to bite off more than God has prepared us to chew at a particular moment. If Cruz has done this, I want to warn about it. I am less concerned about Donald; his blunders are made in the sphere of the world and the results more immediately tangible (and he appears to be taking steps to correct his missteps). But a faith vision, if wrong, can drive a man on and on and on into deep folly.

I’d welcome a truce providing it was to the exclusion of the GOP-e and its shenanigans.

Agreed, you didn’t. And my comment was meant to be a general statement of my experience.

>> Sadly in this case I actually have seen it from both Trump and Cruz supporters.

Yeah, we’re largely a dysfunctional team with lousy Republican leadership. And unfortunately, the leadership is far worse than lousy.

I’ve seen a theory come up relatively recently that Ted is going to be a divine snake charmer to the GOPe so we needn’t be worried about it any more.

I’ve seen too little material discussion of the theory to come to a conclusion.

My counter theory is that Donald will help the church by “not helping it” i.e. not even pretending to meddle. The church will have to pick up its own pallet and walk, and likely will.

Throwing an “I’m offended - who are you to sit in judgment on me?” at them might slow them up a bit - libs love to be “offended” themselves, but seem not to be able to handle it in others.....

I defended Cruz where he ‘trained’ his family on how to pray for dinner — campaign footage retakes if you recall. But I wasn’t pleased with his opportunistic jab at Trump and his supporters regarding the aborted Chicago rally. But still, insignificant matters in the grand scheme of things.

FWIW, Cruz isn’t my problem — I still respect his commitment.

My issue is with the arrogant bastards that are using Cruz against Trump’s supporters. And they’re here on FR, and they’re in the MSM, and a few traitors on AM radio, and they’re certainly in the GOP-e — and all of them are effectively aligned with the Left. That’s my problem.

Regarding the liberty of faith, I totally agree. That is the nature of Christianity.

Yeah, it’s like Cruz is being turned into a show piece. That isn’t being respectful to him or what he is professing to believe in.

Being self-employed, I’ve learned to accept all possibilities as a possibility.

Regardless, the GOP-e must “walk.”

I prefer the mongoose theory (Donald) but to believe it on behalf of Ted I’d want to see some kind of evidence other than dominionism theory (small or large d).

If there was one theological abuse the preacher at a church I used to go hated, it was name-it-claim-it. Mainly with respect to prosperity gospels, but it could apply to dominionism too.

Let Ted’s dad be a kook... Ted shouldn’t be a kook too.

Can you elaborate on that?

It sounds almost too silly to detail, but it’s like the preachers who promise you that if you declare you’re going to get a million dollars, then God will do it, but oh you got to kick into their ministry first. Hucksters, largely.

The longer I live, the more this kind of theory is palpably implausible. You might be able to sell out to the DEVIL and get it, but God might with just as good reason put you through lean times, and even Paul states that he can live equally well unto the Lord in abundance and in poverty.

Got it. That type of ministry never grabbed a minute of my attention.

My humble Christian faith began with Catholicism. And to which it will end.

Perhaps we can discuss the Fallible Frances at some point. But I must cut this evening short. Good night good FRiend.

That communion has its own issues, but prosperity gospel on an evangelical scale isn’t currently among them.

So what are you going to do with a problem like Francis. Dunno. Protestants don’t have a pope. To us, it looks like any problem with a misbehaving pastor. He’s got to go if you want the associated troubles to end. Not our congregation, not our circus or monkeys so to proverbially speak.

True dat. You can’t argue with these hate-filled, spiral-eyed crazy simians. They’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

They seem to be blissfully unaware that by foreclosing all of the civilized avenues of debate and discusson, the only thing that remains to resolve disputes is the barrel of a gun. Given that these precious little SJWs fully expect someone else to do their violent dirty work, they will generally be completely unprepared for the violence that will be delivered up close and persnal - to them.

“Never pick a fight withh an old man. If he’s too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.”
—John Steinbeck

I’m old. I can still fight. But I’m lazy.
