Probably the same way people miss seeing elk and moose in North America.

Does this mean the Bedouins are shifting to an Inticamalfada III?

Spent 6 months in the Sinai. Many near misses, they are impossible to see in the dark. Drove in Israel but not much at night. Egyptians drive with parking lights at night, will run you off the road if you are using headlights... no idea why. When they need to see something they use their high beams Euro style flashes, just one or two.

Headlight switches are as pristine in Middle East as Turn signals are in Asia :P

Don’t know about camels, but here in Maine, it’s easier to not see a moose in the road than you might think.

-— They come out just at dusk - not full daylight, not full dark.
-— Very dark fur coloring.
-— They have huge bodies on long, slender legs.
-— Headlights, particularly on short sports cars, shine low. They will illuminate the legs, but not the body.

-— Not uncommon to clip the legs and have the body (1000 + Lb) crash thru the windshield.

I was the first one on the scene of just such an accident. Little sports car about 8:30 PM. Smashed windshield, broken hand, cut face, otherwise driver OK. Moose alive, but unable to move.
Called EMS and sheriff. Called driver’s boyfriend. Sheriff shot the moose. Boyfriend asked if he could have the moose meat.
