Those are long odds to have a plane from each of those elite units crash within hours of one another.

At this point, can’t be sure; however, just last week, Military Times reported that the Navy’s operations & maintenance account is under-funded by $800 million. Carrier Air Wing One (which just returned from deployment) is facing a fourth-month standdown during to a lack of parts, maintenance and flying hours.
Here’s the most disturbing comment; a friend was at an event yesterday where Virginia Congressman Randy Forbes (R) was the guest speaker. Forbes, chairman of the HASC Seapower Sub-Committee told his audience that there “are no replacments” for Navy aircraft currently deployed, because only 25% of the F/A-18 fleet is fully mission capable on any given day.
Conditions are just as bad in the Air Force.

The statistics of these two is very far out.
I don’t know what Obama did to the budget, only the sorry repercussions, but the Republicans passed that Sequester, which cuts everything across the board, and it is still in effect.
What about that, anybody know? The military just must have special consideration and treatment, in these dangerous times. GEEEZ.

There was home video of the TN crash where you can hear locals in shock blessing the Pilot. In the back ground above the smoke you can see the the rest of Jets come by the crash scene, gut wrenching.
Yes. I saw that video. Tough to watch.
It does happen, and we are now in the beginning of Airshow season, so this is when it will occur. You can search on “Blue Angels crashes” or “Thunderbird Crashes” and see that it is far from rare.
These pilots are flying their equipment to the edge of the plane’s flight envelope, and there is little margin for error. Some is pilot error, some mechanical failure, and either can be overcome at cruise speed and altitude, but is deadly down low.
Budget reductions have resulted in fewer flying hours, even for the demonstration teams, and this leads to more mishaps, and clustering them together.
