In response to falling sales of diet soda, last year PepsiCo changed the sweetener in its main calorie-free beverage, Diet Pepsi. Noting the health concerns that some customers have about the original sweetener in Diet Pepsi, aspartame, the company switched to a different sweetener last year to try to reverse a sales decline. Now sales are declining even faster.
Customers had time to adjust to the idea of Diet Pepsi without aspartame, since rumors about sweetener tests have appeared in these very pages since 2012.
The version of the beverage sweetened with a blend of sucralose (Splenda) and acesulfame potassium (branded as Ace K) started to appear on shelves last summer, just in time for peak cold-beverage season, and the company admitted that some fans of the beverage were not happy with the new formula. Specifically, they received about 3,000 complaints from customers, and only about 300 compliments for the new formula.
The Wall Street Journal reports that some local Pepsi bottlers have received notice that changes will be coming to the brands diet sodas soon. Pepsi declined to comment on the matter.

Booo
Jack Daniels is for drinking undiluted. At most, a splash of water is all that is needed.
If you mix it with soda, you might as well drink Old Crow or some other rot gut.
I've been a huge giant fan of Diet Coke with Splenda, going on, hmm, perhaps ten years now. I've also been a big fan of Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi, which did indeed change its sweetener, and turned out I didn't like it as well, change is hard. Diet Rite, which uses Splenda (and has for years; they also used Cyclamates 40+ years ago, before the FDA decided to ban that), used to come in five or six flavors, has no carbs, no calories, no caffeine, no sugar, no fat, no foolin', and I used to swill that down, but alas, only have the Diet Rite cola, no more Black Cherry, Cherry, Tangerine, White Grape, uh, I forget the others.
That’s right. I gave up soda in 2009. Stopped adding sugar to anything in mid 2009. I even drink home made lemonade with out sugar. Once the taste buds adapted, I didn’t miss it.
What I did miss was the bubbles in soda. So I put a small amount of juice in a glass and fill it up with club soda or seltzer water, and drink that instead.
However, when I get sick (nausea) I will drink a small amount of cola to settle the tummy. Can’t stand it straight-too sweet. So I just add some club soda to it too.
