Yeah, Diet Pepsi Is Probably Changing Its Sweetener Again
Consumerist ^ | June 9, 2016

In response to falling sales of diet soda, last year PepsiCo changed the sweetener in its main calorie-free beverage, Diet Pepsi. Noting the health concerns that some customers have about the original sweetener in Diet Pepsi, aspartame, the company switched to a different sweetener last year to try to reverse a sales decline. Now sales are declining even faster.

Customers had time to adjust to the idea of Diet Pepsi without aspartame, since rumors about sweetener tests have appeared in these very pages since 2012.

The version of the beverage sweetened with a blend of sucralose (Splenda) and acesulfame potassium (branded as “Ace K”) started to appear on shelves last summer, just in time for peak cold-beverage season, and the company admitted that some fans of the beverage were not happy with the new formula. Specifically, they received about 3,000 complaints from customers, and only about 300 compliments for the new formula.

The Wall Street Journal reports that some local Pepsi bottlers have received notice that changes will be coming to the brand’s diet sodas soon. Pepsi declined to comment on the matter.

it is a taste you need to get used to, and most people just switched to another brand.

Don’t drink soda, regular or diet, on a regular basis. None of it is good for you and the diet stuff is probably worse.

Water - it’s all you need.

most people just switched to another brand.

I switched to Cherry Coke Zero. The stuff is made with crack, it's so addictive.

I've never liked diet sodas but that's a whole different category of diet. I don't know what they did but it's really good and like no other diet soda I've ever tasted.

One really great summer drink is barley tea or mugicha. You can find it at your local Japanese/asian grocery - just throw a couple bags in a gallon of water and serve ice cold. A lot of people love it.

And milk, I needs my milk! Not the skim,1% or 2% swill either. Whole milk and sometimes Half & Half - when I feel like spending $4 for a half gallon.

They need to use that sweetener that Coke uses in some diet drinks in Europe. Cyclamates.

Pepsi finances abortion mills, I think that has been getting around and sinking them.

I stopped drinking soda pop about ten years ago and my high blood sugar dropped immediately to normal. Ever since, I have switched solely to diet green tea instead of any other drink. It has aspartame and caffeine, and I feel great!

I'm lucky enough to still be able to drink TAB, which is when lab rat cancer warnings started.

Will take chances with Sodium Saccharine. Tastes more like original Coca-Cola than the current crap does (except for the Mexican stuff...).
