In a break from previous votes on the issue, the House on Thursday rejected two GOP proposals to prevent the Obama administration from enlisting young illegal immigrants to serve in the military.
More than 30 Republicans with more centrist views on immigration joined all Democrats in opposing the two amendments offered to a Defense Department spending bill. The amendments failed narrowly with votes of 207-214 and 210-211, respectively.

I think the GOP did what the Dems do. They wanted the bill to pass but also wanted to look like they opposed it, so after calculating how many were needed 30 pubbies who are not up for reelection or are in safe districts voted YES and the rest of them could say “I fought against this but was defeated”.
I tried to tell many of my friends that Obama would be a disaster. Even had relatives accuse me of racism for not supporting the ‘first black man to get a nomination’ in our once great country. They were all swept up in the ‘historical’ election. I WISH I had been wrong. Sadly, he has created much more destruction than even I had ever imagined. I have only had one or two recently tell me I was right in 2008. I am heartbroken for my beloved country. What Obama has done to us is criminal.

Most every country with significant armed forces have allowed enlistment by foreigners abroad during wartime, and have for several thousand years.
